Not recommended. The decor is lovely. Not impressed with the food, especially with $$$ prices on the high-end for the centro historico. I ordered the cream of mushroom soup: it was inedible from way too much salt, and I like more salt than most. It wasn't very creamy and the mushroom flavor was raw and strong. They were kind to take it off my bill without asking, but it still made a poor impression. Bread for the table served cold.
The lasagne Bolognese al forno had a good flavor, but it was much closer to a standard lasagne romana, not authentic lasagne Bolognese. Good but disappointing if you're looking for the real thing. I had worse the night before in another place nearby. Good Italian food is very hard to find here, other than pizzeria fare. Extensive wine list.
The service was fussy and uncomfortable I really don't like being given an English language menu or being spoken to in English, assuming I can't communicate in Spanish. My waiter (either an owner or the manager) did it with another American party, with the guy starting out speaking in Spanish. Take your cues from your guests.
The food overall very well could be better than the two dishes I sampled. But the service alone would dissuade me from going back. Although expensive for Querétaro, the prices are 20% of what you would pay for upscale Italian food in San Francisco or NY or...
Read moreAn unexpected treat in Queretaro! We had been guided to two other lesser restaurants by the hotel's concierge, and were unimpressed. After wandering around downtown for a bit, we spotted this appealing restaurant. With Tardis-like qualities, the space is much bigger and more impressive on the inside than it appears to be on the outside. The wait staff was courteous and very professional.
The amuse-bouches at different times during the meal were surprising, delicious, and very well presented. All of the food we tried was scrumptious, and well worth the reasonable price and time.
The meal time is a very relaxed pace...giving you time to savor and enjoy each course with plenty of delightful conversation spaces in the different gorgeous rooms. If you are in a hurry, this may not be the place for you - but, you should do your best to give yourself the time to enjoy this delicious restaurant.
The portions are perfectly sized. Not so small that you feel cheated and wanting more, and not so large that you are over-stuffed and cannot enjoy the next portion of your meal.
This is one of the few places that has done steak WELL in Mexico...and they do it very, very well. Their pasta was divine.
A hearty recommendation, and we look forward to...
Read moreThe food here is very good! And, the people here are usually very friendly! They even offered someone to deliver food to my home in Centro. When I placing an order one day, I was told delivery not possible any longer because of staff shortage, so I agreed to small over and pickup our food. I told them I needed 40mins to walk my dog before arriving to pickup my food. Sadly, they prepared the food immediately and when I arrived, the food was barely even warm because it had been sitting and waiting for me. They were visibly angered and not friendly that I reminded them I had requested 40mins for me to arrive. They begrudgingly agreed to remake the food, but they weren’t very kind about it. The food was just ok this time, and I really want to continue enjoying their food, but I hope they get things sorted for any future visits. It is always best to be friendly and kind. Nevertheless, it’s worth trying, if you are in the area. Their grilled Caesar salad is fantastic, and also...
