Kandawgyi Lake, one of Yangon’s most iconic landmarks, offers a serene escape amidst the bustling city. This large lake is dotted with charming islands, connected by picturesque wooden bridges that allow visitors to stroll around and explore its beauty. The landscaping around the lake is well-maintained, making it a delightful spot for morning walks, exercise, or simply enjoying the peaceful ambiance.
The area is especially lively in the early hours, with people engaging in fitness activities. Additionally, the park is home to numerous restaurants and food shops, providing a variety of dining options for visitors. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack or a full meal, there’s something for everyone.
However, Kandawgyi Lake does face significant challenges. The water quality is poor, with noticeable pollution and algae growth turning the water green. While the natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere make Kandawgyi Lake worth visiting, addressing the water pollution and traffic problems would enhance its appeal significantly. It’s a place that captures both the charm and challenges of...

Read moreA park in ghe heart of the city, for people to enjoy. The park is surrounding the lake, and can enter from multiple entrances. I entered from the pagoda road side. Entry is free, and parking is free. I remember they used to charge (the other side). Park has jogging trails, connecting bridges, green grasses, interesting trees and benches. Many young/adults/old folks hang out. It is relatively clean, but many people do litter a lot, just like the rest of the country, which is a sad thing to see. People come with expensive cars and come picnic, and leave trashes behind. This has to change. Along with many other bad things in Myanmar, including the junta government, of course. Sorry about the political rant. There are many established restaurants within the park itself, and they are mostly good, a bit more expensive than other places, but many has quality. All in all, it is a good park...
