The lake is a breathtaking escape into nature, surrounded by lush greenery and offering stunning views. The water is clear and calm, perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing by the shore. Walking trails around the lake are well-maintained, making it a great spot for a peaceful hike or a morning jog. The designated picnic areas are clean and well-equipped, ideal for families or groups. Wildlife sightings, like birds and fish, add to the charm of the experience. However, more restrooms and trash bins would help maintain the pristine environment. Overall, the lake provides a serene and refreshing getaway.

This lake and the walk around it, it worth the effort. It is not a pristine English garden. The lake is full of algae and there is a bit of rubbish around. But the boardwalk has just been replaced and the new one creates a really nice way to walk around the lake. (FEB 2020 - It is almost finished but there are a few parts that are just being completed. There did not seems to be any signs , but you can find yourself at a dead end and have to walk back in a few places when you come upon the next lot of construction) All in all a great walk around.

Located east of the Shwedagon Pagoda, the lake is artificial; water from Inya Lake is channelled through a series of pipes to Kandawgyi Lake. It was created to provide a clean water supply to the city during the British colonial administration.[1][2] It is approximately 5 miles (8 km) in circumference, and has a depth of 20 to 45 inches. -Source : Wikipedia

If you are not going there for meal. You don't have to pay 500mmk entrance fee to the clutter of restaurants. If just for sight seeing. There is a plywood path build near the lake before the entrance. You can just take that path to see the lake. You can't walk around the lake. Is blocked and be careful of those holes on the path. Only the Double Dragon Stone Boat there for you to take pictures. Other then that nothing good to see. Those path that can be walk on is surround by building. No nature, so don't waste time coming here.

The lake is green with a lot of fungi and the water is not clean, one can visit this park for the view of the karaweik boat restaurant which adds beauty to this lake which is the only reason for me to visit this lake. One can totally watch this golden palace boat for free by viewing from the side where there are plenty of restaurants without having to pay an entrance fee which is required while you enter the kandawgyi park

The lake is a nice spot for a morning run. There are various entrances to the park surrounding the lake - on the southern side some will charge an entrance fee but access from the northern side was free of charge as of January 2020. The park on the northern side allows for some great pagoda views. At the time of writing this a boardwalk was being erected on the southern-west side but it was not complete, yet.
