Park Frankendael — Attraction in Amsterdam

Nice park to spend some time in. The grass is well taken care of and there is a good amount of nature to enjoy. There are not that many seating arrangements so if you want to spend any extended period of time, bringing your own seating is advised. There are enough garbage bins to be able to throw away any waste you may have. Sadly, the presence of garbage bins does not keep some people from leaving their trash in the grass for someone else to clean up. This detracted from the experience as it makes the park look like a landfill.

As far as I could tell there is no store in the park to buy any food or drinks, so this is something you should bring in yourself. There are also no public toilets available.

Last time I was here a homeless guy started barbecuing random items (not even food) close to us which was a nuisance in terms of smoke and scent. Very strange.

All in all a nice park assuming previous visitors disposed of their waste properly, and provided you don't have the misfortune of someone barbecuing trash...

We love going here and visiting the playground. The only huge problem is that there are no real restrooms available. You have to beg to pee. And I find that's a huge problem in Amsterdam at large. If you have young kids, and therefore have pregnant and postpartum mothers or potty training toddlers, or babys that need a nappy change, you need to have a place to use the restroom. It's ridiculous how little public areas to do this there are. At the nearby chique restaurant they actually don't allow this officially and as a pregnant woman they made an exception. One of the lesser known and visited parks of Amsterdam but a really lovely one. Park Frankendael is home to a few very good spots you have to try, whether you want to get a coffee and tart or a memorable dinner at one of the best restaurants like De Kas.
