Vishandel Gibraltar — Local services in Amsterdam

I would give 5 stars for the fish but a couple of things made this a truly bad experience.

Upon entering, I see one of the guys leaving the shop spitting snot on the pavement right in front of his shop. I gagged. That’s how it started.

I (woman) enter the shop greeting loudly. No response. Two minutes later a guy does the same and gets greetings back.

The guy that came after me got his fish before me. We both waited for our fish to get cleaned. Another bummer.

I spent almost half an hour waiting. Unbelievable. For two damn little fishes.

During those 30 minutes a man constantly screamed into his laptop having a phone call. He apparently belonged to the shop.

Great fish....

Really, really good seafood! We went in for lunch and ended up trying almost everything. We chose from the fresh fish bar and had fish, fried anchovies, grilled and fried calamari, and grilled shrimp. The grilled calamari was the standout; so tender and flavorful! And don’t forget to get their tartar sauce, it’s a must. They were unfortunately out of seafood soup, so it might be a good idea to call ahead and check. We’ll definitely be going...
