This is a racist tea house! we arrived at 14:50 on a Sunday afternoon and was told that by the lady called Samantha that they are closing in 10 mins, and we can only order the drink from the take away menu. I asked if I could take a look of the menu and she said NO, BECAUSE THE KITCHEN HAS CLOSED. 10 minutes later another group of four Caucasian entered the tea house and were received the full attention. They were seated by the windrow with full attention and offered a proper menu. I thought they are closing at 3pm?! The worst place in Christchurch. I don't want the tea house to feel surprised with the one star score and I went back to speak to Samantha again and it turned out that she is the manager of the tea house. She apologised and offered the menu to us now but we were not in the mood of having the tea again so we didn't dine there. Maybe it's the inconsistency of the staff training. But if I were to come back again, I'll wear my for formal suit next time.

Step back in time. A tranquil gardens and homestead. Beautiful set out gardens, with Avon River flowing through - ducks and geese, very clear water. A number of bridge, lights looking like gas lanterns. Some lovely statues pieces. This place has plenty to offer. Come for the pantry or bring a picnic. Loved the old bath house - wish it was restored to its former glory. Homestead has been repaired from the earthquakes and is looking stunning. Rose garden - the smell. The lily pond is green - no flowers as yet. And the Summer Indian Tea House tucked away in a corner is sublime. The plants have been catologued in some places so if you like what you see you can go and buy. Parking onsite. Toilets on site. Punting also at certain times. This is a well maintained treasure. Looked out for the derelict railway station platform. There are gems all over this garden. I only had a brief 30 minute stop prior to dinner.

We won't be back to Mona Vale resturant again. So very dissappointed in their customer service .My husband and I put so much planning into our event at Mona Vale for our 13 guests which was my husbands 60th birthday. We had saved up all through this year for this event because of being on a low income. We had two meetings at Mona Vale to plan the event and finialize all the arrangements including the menu and make sure everything was correct .The last meeting we had was just on Wednesday November 4th.The event was today for a party of 15 and when we arrived I discovered that the menu was completely wrong. This was very upsetting as we had put a lot of effort in choosing the menu and it was supposed to be special to as Mona Vale was going to print out a menu for each guest but of caurse the menu was completely wrong and so the menues had to be removed from the table in front of our guests and I had to then lay a complaint in front of our guests about the menu .Mona Vale then said they could do the orginal menu and reassured that they would fix things and give us the menu we had agreed on but when the meals came out I think the vegan and vegetairn meals were in correct and the lamb was lack lusture. Then after mains the staff were supposed to come and offer guests dessert menus and then a little while after dessert a birthday cake was to be brought out for my husband.Well the staff did not come to our table with dessert menues and ask if anybody wanted to order dessert.Dessert was forgotten and instead the cake was suddenly brought out.My son who has worked in the hospatality industry as a chef said the lamb mains were not up to scatch and he said it was unproffessional of Mona Vale not to come to our table with dessert menus and my husband and I feel the same way..Finally my husband and I paid Mona Vale in advance before the day and our payment included $32 for a dessert each for my husband I and 2 non acholic beverages for me at a cost of $16.Well I never had any drinks at the event and my husband and I did not have any desserts as Mona Vale never offered our table a dessert menu so that ment Mona Vale owed us a refund of $48 but they refused to refund us. We feel so very very let down by Mona Vale and that our guests have been...

Mona Vale Garden Park is an absolute gem tucked away in Christchurch. It's an exclusive haven that welcomes everyone with open arms. I can't recommend this place enough, and it's an easy 5-star review for me.

One of the standout features of Mona Vale is the sense of exclusivity it offers without the usual restrictions. It's like discovering a secret garden in the heart of the city. The gardens are meticulously maintained, boasting charming rose gardens and tranquil water features that make it a picturesque escape.

Safety is a top priority at Mona Vale, making it an anomaly in a world where serenity and security can be elusive. The park's well-lit pathways and the peaceful ambiance create an ideal environment for walks, picnics, or quiet moments of reflection.

Mona Vale's lush greenery and breathtaking scenery are a feast for the eyes. Regardless of the season, whether it's the vibrant blooms of spring or the cozy winter atmosphere, this park always delivers.

With its rich history, including the Mona Vale Homestead, and its versatility as a backdrop for events, Mona Vale is a multifaceted treasure in Christchurch. In short, it's a sanctuary in the midst of the city, offering beauty, safety, and a sense of exclusivity without any exclusions. Don't miss out on this remarkable...

Dined today with a group of 10 for the roast of the day. Booking for 1 pm Setting excellent on a gloomy wet day. Soup was good - but would have been good to be told what it was. The waitress didn't know what the vegetarian alternative was. Main course was roast lamb. Veges and gravy arrived 5-10 minutes before meat arrived so cold. The roast lamb was cut into big chunks - okay for some. Mint sauce would have been a nice extra. Big delay between soup and main course and not very busy. Some organisation required here. Waitresses very sweet but inexperienced and 8 mins after asking, I ended up getting up to get salt and pepper for the table before we had finished our meals. Dessert very master chef looking with praline, chantilly cream and caramel sauce overwhelming the lovely tart with sweetness. No offer of tea and coffee at the end of the meal. I think they just wanted to close - it was by then 3.30 pm. However for $27.50 per head - excellent value for money and I would return if they manage to improve...
