Lone Star is known for its large meals! We dined at Riccarton Lone Star last night while on holiday. We had an awesome young man serve us, gave us the run down on specials, and took our order. The New Porker I ordered was really delicious, loved the pumpkin mash, and the pork crackling was so good, perfectly done. The ribs were massive and apparently very delicious, and the burger was massive and very good. We also ordered 2 desserts, and even though they were closing up the restaurant, they still allowed us to order dessert, which was really nice of them. One thing that was slightly disappointing is the margarita pitchers we ordered, one was quite chunky with ice so even by the end of the night it was still hard to even drink, and the alcohol was barely noticeable. They also forgot to salt/sugar the rims and forgot to give us straws, but when asked, they got us straws promptly. In previous times dining at other Lone Stars, a pitcher use to contain nearly 4 drinks, but we only got 2 drinks out of these ones. The prices are up there, so don't expect a cheap meal out. The restaurant is huge, plenty of seating. Love the sauces that are at each table. Plenty of parking at the rear of the restaurant, drive up the small alleyway alongside the restaurant, and you'll see the carparks.

10 August 2024. After years of frequently going to Bush Inn Lone Star, then ordering pick up takeaways since covid, I was gutted when they closed quite some time ago. Thank goodness about a year ago, the same owner has reopened again at 87 Riccarton Rd, Christchurch close to the Hagley Park end. Last week we were there for a birthday lunch for my daughter and today for my birthday lunch. So yummy, as always. The food has always been excellent. 👌 So many different things to choose from, each time you visit. It has been some time since I have been at a restaurant, where staff are so well trained and focused on such great customer service, especially the younger staff. Well done. I had the opportunity to meet the owner today and spoke with him about his staff, the new restaurant and complimented him on his role as the owner, which obviously filters down to his staff. What a nice man. Parking is provided to the side of restaurant, off Riccarton Rd. For years I have used the Lone Star loyalty card and this has lead to many discounts off my food, with birthday discounts, desserts etc. Go to the Riccarton branch of Lone Star people and check them out. You won't be disappointed. 😀

My family and I went here for dinner and it was alright. I had a salmon dish with a potato rosti and some veges ($36). The portion was okay, the rosti was a bit bland and vege was alright. My dad had the BB ribs (I think that's the name) and he said the meat was a bit bland and the best bit was the chips. My mum had lamb which she said was nice but a smidge fatty. I ordered a banoffee pie for dessert which was very nice, but was clearly not made from scratch. Just a premade base with a caramel layer which they added banana and toppings to. It was very very nice though. Overall I do not think we will be returning here as we spent quite a bit of money for a meal that didn't completely wow us. Sad as we have been here before and loved it. I believe they do amazing steaks and burgers though so I still recommend checking the place out as I do like the restaurant as a whole.

Visited here with family for a really special occasion. All of our meals were cooked really nicely and beautifully presented. I had the Lasso of hog and the pork was so nice and tender. I always have to give hubby some of my meal because the meals are so huge there. Hubby had spare ribs and he was too busy getting stuck into those to talk. We picked a private booth area to be seated and we enjoyed the food, atmosphere and hospitality. Complements to the chefs and team for our fantastic meals! The only thing that I would change for next time is to ask for less salt on the crackle - so just a really minor thing. Thank you Lone Star Bush Inn, Christchurch. We'll be back! PS The photo was taken after I'd got stuck into my meal and then realised that I'd forgotten to take one - so my meal came out way nicer than what you can see.

This restaurant is a good Lone Star restaurant. They always serve big meal here with tasty food well prepared and well cooked. The prices are not over the top and you get a good feed for a good price. This is a steak bar and has meals like any steakhouse would carry alongside steaks written on the menu. They also serve a great range of puddings and deserts. The Lone Star is a well recognised brand and has been around for a number of years. Bearing this in mind it is obvious that what they, do they do well. There is plenty of car parking but it can get full and difficult to negotiate. Having said that the meals that the restaurant offers a very very nice! Would suggest you give it a go. I don't think you will be disappointed.
