For anyone tramping the coastal track north from Takapuna this campsite could be a perfect spot to make a stop to rest and to best time the low tide part of the track further ahead. A search on Google maps for "Long bay camping" gives a short passage that states "freedom camping allowed" but don't be fooled by this! After speaking to a ranger after I arrived I was told otherwise. The strange thing is it appears you can turn up in a camper van and set up a tent and although public toilets are available there dosnt seem to be any restrictions on turning up with a camper van, setting up a tent and using the public toilets regardless. This setup appears to backtrack on any care of carbon emission issues by encouraging loads of carbon dioxide emitting camper vans whilst banning carbon conscious trampers who made it to the site on their own steam. TL;DR - if you don't care for your carbon emissions by driving a gas guzzling camper van this site is adzactly what you are looking for. But if your a carbon conscious trampers looking to do your bit for the environment this campsite is your...

My experience here feel like the rise and fall of our time also and most importantly ourselves and how we have learned its ok to not help and that person once nown for his acceptional skills he's developed his whole lifetime to get him to this point in life and quite literally his own heaven in which he is absolutely loved and adord and inturn giving praise and glory for putting his whole life of problems aside for just long enough to see the errors in his way and has made a conscious decision to change the world with every step he makes now check yourself check your Moral Compass if so would you make that same decision knowing full well that person doesn't only deserve your time but could really benefit from...

A great beach, one of my Auckland favourites. The Southern end (closest to the park vehicle entrance) gets overcrowded with dogs during the Winter months as this seems to be a favourite spot for dog walkers as well. However, if, like me, you dislike dogs running around then simply drive further North along the park road where dogs are banned before heading to the beach. There are picnic spots with seats and shelters in the park and these can be reserved at the Auckland Council website. During Summer weekends or if you have a big group then it pays to reserve your picnic area but during Winter and on days when there are less visitors then simply find and use an unused picnic spot without needing to make a...

Tips: 1. There are 7 outdoor sites to book for events, you can book it online. The sites have most likely 6 x 11m area for activities. Not the whole grass area. 2. If you would like to extent your area that may others stay. Please ask friendly and politely. We met a rude group from Bettabuild ordered us to move. I double check to the site manager, the sites only have concrete area and few extent not the whole grass area. It is a public regional park. 3. As the group of Bettabuild book their Christmas party every year, if you meet same, please say no to them if they are unfriendly.

Great beach, nice and long so doesn't feel too overcrowded even on busy days. Awesome park area, great for bbqs and gatherings. Some nice walks around here too, if your feeling extra energetic take a walk along through the bays by granny's bay, pohutakawa bay around to the okura river. Great facilities ie. toilets, could do with a couple more shower points though. Lots of parking but does get very hectic on busy days like weekends and public holidays during the summer. No dogs allowed in park area but they are allowed on the beach.

Howdy all, Brilliant beach, pristine environment and plenty of open areas for walking the dog or enjoying the ocean! You can go off leash on the beach and I've added plenty of signs about what you can & cannot do here. We had no issues finding free parking and the experience as a whole was a memorable one so make sure you check it out if you are around. Pn. the sound of the ocean was one of the most serene sensory experiences I've had in a while... I'll upload a video for you to enjoy as well.
