This is a great little beach right on the doorstep of our beautiful village of Howick, with all it's great cafes and restaurants all around the area plus in the village itself. The beach is great for swimming on and around the full tide, and absolutely stunning in and around December when all the Pohutakawa trees are in full bloom and all there glory. Plus there are two stunning walks from each end, too Mellons Bay heading North and Cockle Bay heading South at low tide, just wear good footwear and be aware of wet slippery clay and stones, but really enjoy the cliffs with their differing layers of rock, sand, clay and greywacke soft type stone and the sea erosion formations, beautiful and interesting.

This beach is so clean and beautiful. I have been to many beaches in NZ but this one particularly caught my attention because of its isolated location and calm soothing atmosphere. There is a small garden in front of this beach. If you have jetski then this is best spot you can get in NZ. If you want to simply read a book or do meditation or just hang out with friends this is the perfect option.

We love going to beaches in East Auckland and Howick Beach is one of them. On 16/12/2023, my husband and I went to Howick Beach for a relaxing walk. There were not many people there so we could enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and the relaxing sea breeze. We highly recommend you to go there if you happen to drive past there or you live in East Auckland.

A great place for a quick stop to soak up some sun rays during summertime. Often have lunch and dinner dates with friends and family a classic kiwi pass time. Best to go at high tide. Please note it is not a sand beach so be prepared with some form of water foot wear. Parking can be a problem on hot summer days. The best part it is a 5 minute drive to howick village, that boast some gorgeous boutiques and eateries for a...
