Mehmaan Indian Restaurant is situated in the heart of semi-urban area between Howick and close to Mellons Bay. Favourite hangout place to spend for those who loves beaches and spend evening out. As you step your foot into the restaurant, you are welcomed by the magnificent urban setting, and an immense luxury of modernity. Those, with no prior reservation, are welcomed to wait in the lounge with comfortable armchairs. The lounge has pictures of sports player displayed on the wall. Every table gives you a clear view of the chef working in the kitchen. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouth-watering starters followed by the main course, specially designed for youngsters and adults. We organise a small get together on occasion of our little angel’s 1st Birthday, We order, Amritsari Fish (there speciality) and Murg Malai Tikka, Daal Makahni, Roganjosh, oh, it is difficult to write all of them. They were exquisite. The main course included Goat Meat, Paneer tikka masala, Malai Kofta. This was really thrilling. It was all followed by Mango Kulfi one of the best for dessert. All the cuisines were fresh and refreshing. The award-winning chefs gave a home-made feeling using the best quality ingredients. The restaurant also offers various types of drinks, they serve one of the best wines in the region. The drinks may be pricey but surely worth trying. We didn’t find any problems with the service too, good quality service. The Manager and other staff are full of warmth and thoughtful of their guests. Manager Raj, is always around ready to hear all types of experiences from you and the rest of the guests. Because of the brilliant atmosphere and delicious food service, I highly recommend going to Mehmaan...

Sunday 29 March, 2015. A date that will live long in the memory of New Zealanders. History was in the making, a nation looked to one man, could he rise up and take the glory? No. In the face of tough opposition he crumbled, though he did man-up to a bit of Saag, so we’re all very proud of Clint.
Ambience Given that REACC meetings take place on Sundays, ambience is always going to be somewhat lacking. Given that REACC meetings are REACC meetings, ambience is always going to be somewhat irrelevant. The décor at Bolliwood is nice, themed and comfortable. “100% better than the last place.” – David F. 6/10
Service It took us a little time to decide on the menu. Shared/bottomless curries or individual choices. To add to the authenticity of the event, the good people of Bolliwood haggled and bartered their hearts out on selection and price. Once the deal was done, the choices were made and the Kingfisher Strong was wheeled out, the Bolliwood boys delivered. Food came out quickly and everyone ate until they could eat no more. “We can't blame the 40 minute hold up on the service, it was more the nattering old men trying to decide.” - Taylor 8/10
Food The chosen ones: Lamb Saagwalla, Goat Handi, Butter Chicken, Beef Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh. A difficult judging given the mid-range heat level and selection policy. General consensus, tasty, flavourful curries. Breads were good and rice was, well, rice. Nobody mind-blown by any dish in particular. “How was that Lamb & Spinach dish?!” – Clint 7/10
Summary A solid set of results for Bolliwood. No low scores but nothing extravagant either. Their steady performance means they’ve taken the #1 spot on the leader board, for...
Read moreBooked a table on Friday night. Wasn't too busy and so was expecting a nice quick meal. Service was shocking. Took them 20 minutes to take our drink order. 20 minutes later, a different waitress tries to take our drink order again. 10 minutes later our drinks finally arrive after sitting on the bar for long enough that the heads on our beers had disappeared. Finally our starters arrived - $8 for poppadoms, surely this is going to be something special considering that most restaurants provide these as complimentary snacks? Not all all. $8 for four poppadoms and two dips. Could it get any worse? Of course it could! After another twenty minute wait for our mains, one of them turned up wrong. They apologised and brought out the correct main within minutes (so we wondered why it had taken twenty minutes between starters and mains in the first place!). To be fair the food was great when it finally arrived but very small portions - the curries and naans, and a pitiful amount of rice to share between three people. Thankfully there are a few Indian restaurants in Howick so we don't ever...
