Shocking. Air New Zealand has turned into an absolute greedy, incomptetent, embarrassingly useless airline. Paid an extra $50 to change and secure an earlier flight. Check bags in, get boarding pass, wait at the airport....get right to the gate, only to be told "you are on standby and there is no seats for you on here". I calmly say "oh I paid 50 bucks extra to get this?? Heres my boarding pass with my seat". Indian lady says "nope you are on standby blah blah blah". I say "whatever, get me on the next flight please (orginal one i paid full price for)". She then states that, that one is fully booked....starting to get quite annoyed at this stage as it was the last flight out on Friday night, I tell her to get me on the first one the following morning...Turns out they don't have another FLIGHT for 2 days!!!! 2 days???!!! What country do we live in again?????? So now here I am, driving down, missing out on a night, all because you overbooked flights and couldn't sort out your bloody useless business!!! Not to mention the fact that my flight home is now completely worthless to me...all of this acompanied by the fact of the initial outrageous price you charged me in the first place!!! It's also not only this incident that annoys me. You charge so much It's almost a crime, your service is nigh on non-existent these days, and you have zero personal service or responsibility like you used to. Absolutely atrocious. Would rate it minus a hundred thousand stars if I could. I hope an aggressive offshore company comes over and gives you a jolly...
Read moreI like Air Nz for flying as they seem to be a bit more cleaner with better quality in cabin compared to Jetstar, but this time round we were let down multiple times.
We were travelling with someone that needed assistance and a bit more care taken with as she was in a wheelchair.
The flight was nearly an hour late, the staff had said they would make sure to let her on the plane first and to ensure she was looked after.
This was not the case, once the gates opened, she was not looked after in any respect and waited at the back of the line until one of the other flyers opened up the gate for her and put her in the front of the line, still there staff had nothing to say about the lack of assistance that was not received.
There was no wheelchair waiting once we landed and still no assistance given to get one.
Service in flight was fine and food was to be expected.
Not entirely thrilled over the experience and hope they step up their game in...
Read moreAdmittedly at times the Air NZ lounges can be very crowded. It's the result of their success I suppose. It's always a great place to get a bite to eat, have a drink at the end of a long day, or have a coffee in a nice setting. There are also power outlets for laptops and charging stations for mobile devices. WiFi is free. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. For example just ask if they ran out of your favorite food to find out if they have more. The lounges are typically after security and close to the departure gates. Be aware that currently the domestic terminal has two Air NZ lounges. Pick the one that is closer to your gate. If you travel frequently you may want to consider paying for a Koru membership. It gives you access for yourself plus one guest...
