Halong Bay — Restaurant in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu

Just had an incredible meal at Halong Bay and I’m still thinking about those perfect flavors hours later. I ordered their beef rice noodle soup (pho bo) and fresh spring rolls, and both dishes exceeded every expectation. The pho was absolutely sublime - the broth had that deep, complex richness that only comes from hours of slow simmering beef bones and aromatic spices. You could taste the star anise, cinnamon, and ginger working in perfect harmony. The rice noodles had that ideal tender texture, and the beef was sliced paper-thin and cooked to perfection in the steaming broth. Fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime on the side let me customize each spoonful exactly how I wanted it. The spring rolls were a revelation - translucent rice paper wrapped around the freshest prawns, crisp vegetables, and fragrant herbs. Each bite delivered this amazing textural contrast between the soft wrapper, firm prawns, and crunchy vegetables. The peanut dipping sauce struck that perfect balance between sweet, savory, and slightly spicy that made me want to keep dipping. What really impressed me was the authenticity - these weren’t watered-down versions for Western palates, but genuine Vietnamese flavors prepared with obvious care and skill. The presentation was beautiful, service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable. Halong Bay has definitely earned a regular customer. We had such a fantastic meal at Halong Bay Vietnamese Restaurant! I ordered the beef pho and spring rolls, and both were absolutely delicious. The pho was rich, flavorful, and comforting — just the way it should be — and the spring rolls were fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor.

What truly made the visit special was the kind gesture from the staff: they surprised my son with a free jelly cup, which absolutely made his day! It’s the little touches like that which show how much they care about their customers.

Worst Bahn Mi i ever tasted. I love Bahn mi and often eat it in NZ and Australia. Didn't expect much being the airport but thought it was a safe option. The pork in the bahn mi was disgusting. I've never tasted such salty pork in my life. Took the meat out and it still tasted gross from whatever they put on the meat.

Everywhere else they ask you what salads you want in it, here they give you a order puck and walk away. Took 10mins to make and tasted rubbish. Saddest $17...
