I was transiting in Auckland and was excited to try the chicken and waffle as I have had in the past.
The menu has changed, most likely due to change of ownership. No desserts, no thick shake.
Their main selling point the chicken and waffle is not how it used to, which I missed.. it was a fairly disappointing experience.
I ordered the chicken and waffle, onion rings and a drink.
The cashier who took my order seems to have trouble hearing me and understanding what I was asking. Also there was a lot of issues with the payment. I was using Priority Pass. She kept telling me I had a problem and told me to go over to Best Ugly Bagels instead. Then she got another lady (the manager?) who took my order and processed my order with no issues.
Okay on to the food.
The waffle is most likely using the ones from Toscano? (A frozen one you can get from the supermarket with sugar bits in it) There were a few pieces of fried chicken, okay flavours but quite dry. With some mayo on. The slaw is kinda gross. I couldn’t finish it.
The onion rings are just the ones you get from a fish and chip shop. Not real onions, so not worth the steep price.
A bottle of Bundaberg is $6.9. Go figure.
The original shop used to make the waffle fresh with sage, chilli and maple syrup. Was to die for but yea, for what it’s offering now, I would not return or recommend.
Everything is overpriced and cheap tasting. The menu is not very...
Read moreVisited today for the first time. Purchased a hash waffle (with egg and relish) and a coffee. The waffle was $10 and regular coffee was $4.50. I was a little underwhelmed by both items. The coffee was bitter even though it was mojo coffee, and no options for capo, latte or flat white. The food was served in a small plastic basket which meant it slid around the table as I tried to eat it which was also awkward given the size of the basket. Also having a basket for food meant the food fell out onto the table even though it was lined with grease proof paper. The egg that came with the waffle was overcooked but this might all be due to expectation to eat this like a sandwich. The hash brown was very small indeed and looked like something bought in from a wholesaler rather than made on site. The waffles were cold and bland and I would suggest maybe having a variety of waffle flavor options. The service was okay, a bit slow with the meal and tables were not cleared for the entire duration of my meal even though there were staff sitting down in the eating area. Overall I am concerned this franchise will not last at the airport given the opportunity to capitalize on a potential unique...
Read moreAfter ordering, repeating my order and theb the attendant repeating it back to me I sat down to wait. When my food was ready I get to the counter to ask which burgur was which as I had ordered two. They tell me one Is bacon burger and one fried chicken. Not once did I say bacon burger. I am intolerant to bacon and pork products and would be vomiting within 10 minutes if ingested. I said I hadn't ordered this to be met with a very rude defensive server who sent it back to the kitchen and what looked like the "chef" made me a 'new' one. Although seeing as it took no longer than approximately 1 minute I'm sad to say its probably just had the bacon removed. Had to swap with my partner as the blatant disregard to the food and intolerance was very evident. Couldn't risk having illness just before a flight. Would never eat here again. Very rude and unprofessional. Also their shakes...
