One of Nelson's beauty spots. This Victorian Garden is full of history, things to do and see. Take a short stroll around the park and enjoy the sculptures, which include The Cupid Fountain, the Water Wheel, the Boer War memorial, Sentinel and fine memorial gates at both main entrances. Take a walk over Rainbow bridge to the Huangshi Chinese Garden. Utilise the picnic tables or relax on the lawn; there are plenty of shaded areas. Feed the ducks and ducklings that swim in the eel pond. This park is perfectly located next to the Sutter Art Gallery and Cafe which overlooks the Garden. And in close walking distance to the...

Peaceful area for strolling, picnics, or just sitting and relaxing. There are bench seats scattered throughout the gardens and some tables too. The Huangshi Chinese garden area is a lovely spot for quiet sitting and photos. Great for families. Well established trees with plenty of shade. The Suter Gallery cafe is easily accessable from Bridge Street (Through Suter Gallery) or take the path from the gardens. Wildlife - there's plenty of Mallard and Muscovy ducks throughout the wet areas, and Weka stroll through the bush too. Great for a family visit and a place to relax...

About average as far as centralisedcity parks go but don't get me wrong the central city of Nelson is a stunning place to visit. The great thing about it I think there are no Malls there which makes the place so much more interesting. What a lovely city to visit with so many interesting individual shops and the eating out places such as coffee shops are really what makes this place so special for out of town visitors. Thoroughly recommend it to everyone. The Cathedral is also a must it's why Nelson first acquired city...

The queens Botanical Gardens are wonderful. As soon as you walk in off the street, the temperature drops 10c, which was perfect on the January summer's day I visited. With a great variety of beautiful old trees and flowers, this place is special. There's a number of large ponds, these Gardens are so peaceful, you could easily forget where you are. The tiles or pebbles in the Chinese garden are very interesting. This place is free and a must visit if you're in Nelson.
