The Quarry Arts Centre is an interesting and eclectic place, brimming with creativity 👀 It is an artist commune, where artists from different genres and different mediums 😯 (ceramics, glass, wood, etc.) reside together at enclosed by bush covered walls of the old quarry. There are different gravel and unpaved tracks to follow, which will lead you to interesting garden art and sculptures 🗿surrounded by lush green bush🌲a flowing river, and an awesome waterfall near the back of the property. There are many artists busy at work, creating their next masterpiece 🖌 Some welcome a chat, while others are too immersed in their work. There is a cafe, a gift shop, a place to buy art supplies 🎨 and a dedicated gallery to the famous Yvonne Rust. They offer kids classes 👨‍🎨 holiday programmes, pottery, NZQA certified Diploma Courses, workshops, and online shopping 🖱 Although extremely interesting, it seems a bit dilapidated and in need of some TLC ❤

I ❣ this place, I buy small pieces of art for my friends here sometimes. They have artist studios, ive been in them, the artists are friendly, ive struck up many conversations with some of the artists and artist run shop, the cafe is pretty nice, the grounds are super lovely. There are sprays of colors exploding through the cracks of very old cement walls as one walks about here. Plant life abounded with new and livid colours , spreading new shoots for life reaching out. Every new zealander srsly needs to visit here, it feeds your brains 🧠 🧠 🧠 if you show signs of creative life within the arts. Its simply a must go place, where you are free to become the saunterer, absorbing , it all in. Take stock of all the surroundings,

If you are artsy or crafty this place will amaze you. It's nothing like I imagined. It's a ramshackle group of rambling buildings each housing workshop facilities or artisan craftshop. Sally at the front desk is really helpful friendly and knowledgeable. There is a cafe and 2 art shops.

I signed up for the beginners wheel workshop with Julie Cromwell who is an awesome teacher. $95 gets you 2 X 3 hour sessions in the workshop and 2 pieces included for firing. Clay is extra but there is a fully stocked clay store and prices are on a par with pottery retailers online (less if you consider postage!).

There are toilets, hot drink making facilities in the clay studio and limited parking.

Such a great buzz about this place. If you get bitten by the bug check out the pay and play Tuesdays- all day on the wheel for $5! How's that for...
