Hann Sang — Restaurant in North Island

The food is really very good. The fried chicken is delicious. I had the half original and half spicy. I think the kitchen may have made a mistake with my order. The spicy chicken tasted like the honey soy sauce kind. There was no spicy kick to it at all, so I can't really say how spicy the chicken is here. However, both types of chicken were still pretty great. As far as service went there were many issues. I will say that first of all, we ate here on a Saturday night. We also had a large group of people. So I'm pretty confident in saying that what happened to us, on this night, may not be indicative of the normal service. We got there at 18:00. Our whole table was there on time. Our drink orders weren't taken until 18:30. Our food orders not until 19:00, possibly later than that. Finally our food came at 20:30! The food came in dribs and drabs. Half the table got what they ordered, while the other half waited. We didn't leave the restaurant until 21:40. One of our party had to leave before he even got to eat! Like I said earlier, I think the restaurant isn't normally that slow. They did apologise over and over, but not until the very end as I was paying the bill. No one came to talk to us during the time we were waiting. No explainations. I think they had staffing issues. I would try this place again, but this time on a week night and with only 4 people max. The food is worth...

The staff were lovely, and the cooked meals were delicious. We ordered pretty much every meat from the BBQ menu for 8 of us, and doubled most of it again, and that still wasnt enough, as the portions of meat given for a $30 dish was very small. A bit overpriced for the meat portions. Overall for 8 of us we spent just over $550 and weren't completely full. We also had to wait 40 minutes before our dishes came out, which for a cook your own Korean BBQ (seems a little too long of a wait). Maybe you were short staffed, but my suggestion would be to bring out the raw BBQ foods first and then serve the cooked meals after to prevent customers from getting too hangry. I am so regretful for only being able to give this place 4 stars not 5. It was our first here and we didn't know what to expect. After searching the menu the man came and offered to help which he did a lot and we were able to order something yummy. My only and biggest let down was the 'prawn skewer' yes not plural. For $12 you too could get a giant plate with one sad looking skewer with 4 prawns on it. One canned pinapple slice and some diced capsicum. I have never been so speechless. I didn't even no how to bring up the price for such disappointment. My husband told me to try not make it ruin the evening so I continued with the meal ahead. And honestly apart from that dish everything was amazing. It was a fun experience and when we were done we were full but a healthy feeling full.
