Thorndon Pool — Attraction in North Island

I go there from my nearby office in summer; some lunchtimes, occaisionally after work and it is a wonderful facility for lane swimming for us office workers/. A chance to get outdoors, and get some gentle or even more vigorous exercise. I know the kids on summer holidays use it a lot, and once schools are back there are regular lessons for many of the nearby schools. Awesome outdoor pool, a real treat in welly! Love the brass railing and tiles, and all the measurements are in imperial, it’s like a step back in time! 3 feet at the shallow end and 8 ft 6 in at the deep end, it seems so deep! Great pool, regardless of the weather (if it is raining or windy, get under the water and get moving). I'm really enjoying the pool being opened into autumn /winter for 2021. The pool is (understandably) so much less busy in the colder months, which creates a much more relaxing atmosphere.
