Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve — Attraction in North Island

Wonderful scenery. Stunned by this place. Its like travelling back in time. There is the classic rotten egg smell though. But that aside, you really feel you are stepping back in time here. Its a truly unique experience. The birds singing is also something else. There is a Maori Village as well where you can learn a bit about their Culture. Wonderful architecture. Very stunning. If you come to this wonderful town, you must visit here. (Almost forgot to write this reivew as we experienced so much...

I ❣ this environment, the smell, the air, the birds in the trees, the local people, bid me good morning, its such a good place to visit, I find it soothing and that makes me calm. I find it invaluable, invigorating, the bridge across its wai , the heroic names bestowed on the arch gateway to the whakarewarewa village. Im honored when i can visit. Everytime....

It was hot, hot, hot, and smelly, but what an experience! Just seeing the geysers explode right in front of you makes the whole trip worthwhile. Plus, thermal pools with beautiful multicolored algae make for wonderful photo collages. Everywhere you look is nature at its most amazing best....
