Takanini Fish Mart — Attraction in Papakura

I have been going to this place for over three years and previously it was the BEST rawfish and fish and chips you could get. But i gotta be honest lately the times Ive had the rawfish here idk why but the pieces of fish are so big probably that seal that was in Papakura could eat it lol please make them smaller pieces alot of people I know are put off by large pieces of rawfish. Also the fish and chips are not as good, those chips used to be bomb as with their lemon pepper seasoning and now it looks like old chips and none of the seasoning. Im hoping they take note of this review cause its hard to find good fish and chip shops these days and their customer service at the front counters...

Went there last two weeks omg it was very dirty inside the shop you could see rubbish underneath the displays . Took so long to wait for an order. You could see the staff not wearing their masks but they all busy talking and you can see them eating why they cooking which is not a good look . Some customers jst walked in without masks but the staff didn’t saying anything or pointed out their big sign at the entry. Why waited for my order I heard one customer told one staff member there was a cockroach running around omg the staff member stood on it and walked away. This is so disgusting. I will never buy anything from...

I have to say...This has to be one of the best fish and chips I have eaten. Even compared to many of the beach town ones (close second is the davenport fish and chips! The batter is unique, crunchy and just thick enough. The fish portions are more than ample, served with freshish lemon. The fries are usually good. Although the kumara fries are substantially better, if you get a good batch. In saying they can be a hit and miss. They have an 'A' food safety rating and cook in vegetable oil. As far as I'm aware, there is no pork on the menu. 10/10...
