Westmere Butchery — Attraction in Waitematā

One of our favorite butchers in Auckland. However, lesson learnt to always personally select expensive cuts of meat.

Ordered 5kgs of grade 6-7 wagyu over the phone and got confirmation they had it in stock. Showed up to pick up and they said they only have grade 8-9 in store which is quite a bit more expensive ($199/kg), and they'd already packed it in a bag for me. A little bit of a hmmm but paid for it since I had already driven over.

The pieces on top had beautiful marbling, but once I got home and unpacked the chilly bag, the ones on the bottom (around 3 out of 14pcs) had some pretty questionable marbling for it to have been graded 8-9. Quite obvious with a side by side comparison. Have attached photo with the questionable cuts to the right :(

Always pick your own cuts of meat, I guess. On the positive side, the staff who handled payment were awesome and friendly...

Good day WMB, We again as regular customers yesterday bought your boerwors sausage?

No go, your recipe has gone for a ball again and need to report this to you and the public. We only bought 1kg luckily this round. Someone has not followed the regular prescribed recipe which needs to be checked and sorted asap + the price went up for poor product too really...where's the regular batch by batch recipe ingredients measure ie quality checks inhouse before processing mixes to final finishing to the public???

Management and ownership are snoozing...Poor poor quality on this product received.
