Diwali Festival at Aotea Square My husband and I attended Diwali Festival on 4/11/2023. We enjoyed their great performance like dancing and the great speech by our Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. There were lots of food stalls along the street. My husband loved Samosa and vegetarian flour balls. For me, I liked Indian Turmeric Rice with potatoes. Lots of people were there but we still enjoyed our time there. We will definitely attend Diwali Festival again this year and we highly recommend you to join the upcoming Festival this year. On another occasion, we attended Lunar New Year celebrations at Aotea Square yesterday, 25/2/2024. There were a number of events happening, such las Karaoke Competition, Mahjong Playing, Street Dance Competitions etc. We enjoyed mahjong games with a couple from Canada there. At the meantime, there was a Rainbow Parade at Queen Street yesterday afternoon. We highly recommend you to get there and enjoy Lunar New Year at Auckland next year.

Aotea Square is very close to civic parking , which provides easy access to the stairs or elevator ( good for anyone with mobility issues). There are also many cafes and restaurants. Close proximity to the cinemas and a 5 Minute walk to K Road and a 10 minute walk to the viaduct. I attended the square around winter. The trees were quite beautiful in color, and the Civic Hall buildings are good for taking interesting photographs. Facilities; Inside the cinema there are a number of toilets. However, for those who have mobility issues, I found the stairs going down to the toilets quite challenging. Aotea Square is a large paved public area in the CBD of Auckland, New Zealand. Officially opened in 1979 by Sir Dove-Myer Robinson next to Queen Street, it is used for open-air concerts and gatherings, and markets and political rallies. In November 2010, a major redevelopment of Aotea Square was completed. The square was redesigned to make it appropriate for use by crowds of up to 20,000 people. Its name is derived from Motu Aotea, the Māori name for Great Barrier Island, which is the largest offshore island of New Zealand, approximately 90 km from downtown Auckland.

We met at Aotea Square to do a Clue NZ Challenge that began at the Square. It was clean and tidy and a pleasure to be here. Another occasion was for a Latin Culture Festival which was well planned out and safe for everyone including families. Seating/ bean bags and plenty of food stalls too. A fun and colourful event with music and audience participation- really welcoming and warm vibes. Loved being here! Highly recommend to locals/visitors to events held here!

I'm still trying to figure out how to actually say it. Either way, I like it a lot. A very clean area, with a contemporary aesthetic. Lots of things to do, there's usually something happening in the center. All sorts of great coffee nearby! I wish there were a place like this in my city. Just be mindful at night, sometimes there are crazy homeless people wandering about. They're entertaining but only a bit.

On Saturday 22 June Destiny Church did a Protest March from Britomart to Aotea Square. We were protesting against RSE in schools, Puberty Blockers, the Grooming of our children by the LGBQI community and the Government who promised to take the Relationship Sexuality Education out of schools when we voted them in! Guest speakers included Hannah and Brian Tamaki, and Heker Robinson.
