Read moreThis branch needs to replace all its wall clocks, and the staff and security need to obtain more accurate time pieces! The other night, I get over the intercom, "we close in 5 minutes." Well actually you don't, because my watch and phone CLEARLY said 7:50pm. Also, recently, a security guard sternly told me, "we close in two minutes." I said "no you don't. You actually close in 5 minutes!" I was out in 3 minutes. So easy, wasn't it?!
Also people, you will notice some people make comments about high prices here, that would be correct, because this branch is classed as a Metro Store, Metros are always more expensive because of "the convenience".
Also, can you also find staff and security that actually KNOW HOW TO SMILE! And not look at you like you are a piece of garbage?! I've been walking up and down Victoria Street all my life, 58 years, oh how it's changed, no offensive hobos back then demanding your hard earned money, GET A JOB! I've had one ever since I was 12... 😡
22/01/2025: When one has been waiting for about a day for someone to clear my small alcohol purchase, it's okay, Auckland born Kiwi of 58, it would be ideally more pleasant for tge staff member to say something like, "sorry sir, thank you for waiting". But no, this is 2025, so all you get is a long, COLD SILENCE! Also, do something about the endless hobo trash, always constantly causing trouble outside your door. Also, another thing, stop STOP saying "we close in 5 minutes " at 7.50pm, when you CLOSE in 10 MINUTES!...
Read moreJust moved to Auckland and done our first major shopping trip here. Were purchasing a bottle of wine to use as part of a stew and were challenged for ID, whilst mine was accepted my partners ID was not and the assistant demanded a passport (we would never carry such a valuable document with us).
We are both clearly over 25 (bearded) and presented legal and valid photographic ID showing our photo and date of birth and were making the purchase as part of a $160+ shop.
Whilst we aren't opposed to showing ID when asked we don't appreciate being turned down when valid ID has been presented! Especially when making the purchase as part of a bigger shop, some common sense should have been applied here.
Needless to say we will take our business elsewhere in the future, utter disgrace.
Update 22/06/2018 - 3/5
Happened again, this time a smaller shop ($10) of which was a single can of beer. So not as bad, asked for ID, showed same ID again didn't accept foreign drivers licence (UK) and even though clearly over 18 was refused service. If you've not got a NZ drivers licence and you aren't carrying your passport even if your clearly old enough (I am 31 and have a beard) do not try to buy alcohol. There are loads of liquor stores around the city who will serve you and also accept ID. I bought a beer from a shop on my way home without issue, only this countdown in the city has...
