Located on the top floor of Tropic Gallery Mall. This art gallery was breathtaking from the moment I walked inside. Well air conditioned, serene sense of peace, sparkling clean, and was a vast space filled with mixed arts and media. The location is free to enter and view, but there is a no phone policy to enjoy the art. To use personal phone for pictures (with time limit) we paid a donation fee, at the door. To use a personal Polaroid or professional camera it was a little over 3X the amount.
They offered guided tour, self exploration, and you were always free to ask questions. Not every piece had an artist plaque, but I feel they were in the process of putting up newer pieces or changing it out. Which is extremely promising that they’d feature more local artists and talents, to showcase different works. It is more of an intimate space, perfect for: couples stroll, small family, solo art appreciation.
The work displayed ranged from 2D art (painting, charcoal/pastel, mixed media, digital art, etc) to 3D art (metal work, ceramic sculptures, wood carvings, etc). Each room is filled for the eyes to enjoy, leaving enough space to look up close and admire the detailing and precision of the artists masterpieces, without touching.
Definitely worth the trip and viewing. It’s greatly inspiring to either promote or buy from local artists or even get back into the arts yourself. Everyones experience may be different. Would love to...
Read moreThis is the BEST art gallery in Abuja! It is housed within the Tropic Galleria and it's on the first floor of the galleria! Orisun has an excellent collection of arts, organized by themes and artist! I appreciated that each art work had a description to help you learn about the art , the artist and the year it was made. Orisun also offers really cool events! Check out their Instagram page to stay up-to-date on events!
Oh! I must add that this is the cleanist art gallery I've ever been too! So pristine, and cool on the inside that I fell in love with being in the space alone! So therapeutic!
Every staff member was nice and welcoming! While there is a "no photo" policy, I must thank Mr. Femi Coker, the gallery manager for granting me permission to take some photos for Google maps! (And for copyright reasons, I'd only share the collections and not individual art works! Enjoy😁) I must also thank Mr. Jonathan Adamu for sharing some of the history behind the art!
I highly recommend this space for exhibitions, school trips and some really cool history tours! I'll...
Read moreThe most well-lit gallery i have ever been My experience at Orisun was amazing.
1.Entrance: Orisun is a free entrance gallery but there's a charge attached to taking pictures, which is 3000 naira per phone for 20minutes.
Aesthetic: Orisun has one of the most beautiful arts i have ever seen in a gallery with the likes of art from Bruce Onabrakpeya, Tunde Odunlade, Iyke Okenyi etc
Customer service: Customer service was great. One of the staff kept coming to ask if we were enjoying the serene environment. I also had the chance to have a brief, concise and enlightened conversation with someone from the gallery ( i want to assume he is the manager, it's sad I couldn't pick his name).
I totally enjoyed my time here and i would love to go back over and...
