I booked 2 nights at this hotel though Hotels.com and arrives at 21 in the evening - the check in went fast and smooth, I paid for 2 nights (full price - no discount or anything else that should have revealed what was coming. But the room I was given was an "extra" room at the hallway, with no window and some REALLY bad air! As I returned to the reception asking for a "real" room - I was at first told they only had this room and as I said that I would like my money back and then head to another hotel, I was told that they had a room - but only for one night. I accepted to take this and asked for money back for the second night. This was not possible and I could discuss this with Hotels.com as the receptionist were referring to "that they had given me the room" although I did not pay over Hotels.com but that the credit card automat at the reception a few minutes before! ||It was late and I had spent all day traveling and therefore I stayed the one night and elsewhere the day after.....BUT I still have not had my money back and as I was leaving I was told (by the receptionist and a maid) that "they always receives complains about that one...
Read moreThe location was nice if you are interested in walking around downtown Kristiansand but I think the room could use a lot of improvement. The "windows" of the room opened onto a hallway and people passing by could see right into your room if you had the curtains open. Very strange. There is no parking and they won't validate nearby parking garages but there definitely are plenty of garages to park in with good rates. If you're on the top floor, you have to take an elevator to the 4th floor and go up stairs as it won't connect to the 5th floor. The bathroom was tiny and had the type of shower that was both hard to turn on/set temperature and flooded the floor after only a few moments on which was annoying. You had to leave the key in the socket for the power to work. The bed was 2 small Ikea twins (which we pulled together) and not that comfortable. The television offered a wide range of channels. Noise levels were okay - we didn't hear other guests. The best part of the hotel was the breakfast - huge selection of traditional foods and freshly prepared. For the price, I really expected a more...
Read moreIt's a decent hotel overall, pretty clean rooms. On the night we arrived, we went to check in and wasn't sure if we were at the right place so we asked the young man at reception if we could check in here, he just stared at us and gave a curt reply. He was pretty rude and very unwelcoming. This basically changed our entire view on the hotel, first impression was very poor.
The shower drain when showering wasn't draining much, so if we used the bigger shower head water would creep towards the door too much. The bed and pillow wasn't the most comfortable, we have left with some minor muscular pains in our backs.
The breakfast was decent, except lacked a good variety of the usual breakfast items. No ingredient listing's on smoothies or similar items.
There isn't really a proper common room to relax in, only the area around reception were the breakfast is held. So there isn't really anywhere to go if you want to get out of the dimly lit hotel rooms.
Other than this, the lady this morning whilst checking out and the different young man last night were very...
