Herlig Land is, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was shockingly rude and unprofessional. The waiters didn’t just have an “attitude”; they practically flaunted it. Any simple request, like asking for water, was met with exaggerated sighs and eye rolls, as if serving customers was a massive inconvenience for them. At one point, our waiter even snapped at us when we asked how long our food would take. It felt more like we were intruding on their day than being paying customers.
Speaking of the food, it took an absurdly long time to arrive. We sat there waiting for nearly two hours before the main course was finally brought out. For a restaurant that wasn’t even busy, this was completely unacceptable. In that time, no one bothered to check on us or offer any updates. We were essentially left sitting there in hunger and frustration, watching other patrons around us experiencing the same poor service.
When the food finally did arrive, it was a complete disappointment. It was stone cold, as if it had been left out for ages before it got to our table. The portion sizes were laughably small, barely enough to even make a dent in our appetites. I don’t know who designed their menu, but the portions wouldn’t fill a child, let alone an adult. And for the prices they charge, I expected at least something edible and satisfying. Instead, it felt like we were being scammed with overpriced, subpar food.
To make matters worse, there was a dead rat on the floor near the outdoor table where we were seated. The smell was absolutely revolting, and it became impossible to enjoy even the little time we had there. My partner and I were horrified and tried to flag down a waiter to address the issue, but they seemed completely uninterested. We were too disgusted to stay seated, and the idea of touching anything nearby made our stomachs turn.
In the end, Herlig Land is not just a bad restaurant; it’s an outright disaster. Between the rude staff, the painfully slow service, cold and unsatisfying food, and a literal dead rat lying near our table, it’s a wonder they’re still in business. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration—avoid this place...
Read moreCame in a little after 5 and got a rosemary chicken pizza to split. The food came out relatively fast, and was alright. The chicken on it was quite dry and the pizza was cut wildly uneven and not all the way through (which I forgot to photograph), which made it difficult to pull apart slices. It took close to an hour when someone finally came by to take away the plates and asked if we wanted dessert, and another half hour almost before we actually got a menu to order dessert as well. 20 minutes later and we were finally able to order two apple cakes, which did come out very quickly. These were really not great however, as they were dry despite the fact that they were absolutely drowning in way too sweet caramel sauce. And also had raisins in them for some inexplicable reason. Add in another half hour just to flag someone down so we could pay as well and in the end we were here for almost 3 hours, the majority of those just sitting waiting for someone to stop by the table.
I understand it's the tail end of the summer tourist season and there were cruise ships and ferries in harbor, leading to it being busy. However, majority of the clientele were seated outside while we were one of the few inside, directly in the front door, and we felt like we were completely forgotten about. If we wanted to, we could probably have left without paying without anyone noticing. Overall it was an ok meal with very lackluster service. It could just be an off day, but I'm not impressed with today's...
Read moreIf you ever go to Kristiansand I recommend Herlig Land! It is a very popular place and there is a reason to it 🍕
I shared a pizza with my friend (chicken rosemary pizza 😍😍 - if you like rosemary I highly recommend this one) and for dessert we shared a brownie with coconut vanilla ice cream bathed in some type of caramel (nammis 😋).
Sharing those meals was a perfect amount of food for the both of us. This is a great way to avoid wasting food and not over eat yourself. My friend suggested it and I am happy she did. Now I'm gonna follow that the next time I eat out. Hear out if someone is willing to share food. You are avoiding throwing rest food away (an option is to bring the rest in a doggie bag), saving money, can exchange the meal experience with each other 👥, in my opinion the meal tastes soooo much better when sharing 😍🤗 sharing...
