The perfect spot to see the entire city of Huaraz. You can also admire the glaciers on the background. It is a beautiful place where your eyes can relax with the view! On the weekends, they have bike tournaments/races that anyone can participate in. If you take a taxi, make sure u also use the same one to return to the city or else you would have to walk down the mountain. Enjoy the views and the air! ✨️🏔 🗻 ⛰️

Apu o Cerro Rataquenua para los lugareños, es un hermoso cerro y mirador de toda la ciudad de Huaraz, la Cordillera Blanca, Cordillera Negra, bosque, restaurante, columpio y La Cruz. El acceso es trocha pura y algunos taxis no te harán la carrera por eso. Estando en la cima tiene opción de hacer caminatas a diversos puntos como Puka ventana y hospedajes. ->Ruta a pie: 45 min - 1hora a más, hasta la avenida. ->Ruta en vehículo: desde la Iglesia Señor de la Soledad, toma alrededor de 15 min / costo 15 -20 soles. ->Taxi, colectivo o mototaxi de retorno: No hay, salvo aprovechar algún taxi que llega al mirador. (Estuve medio día en el lugar). ->Horario de visita segura: 5am hasta las 6:30pm. ->Seguridad: Preguntando a la policía, no ir al Mirador mas allá de las 6pm porque corre peligro de que le roben en cualquier modalidad ya que no hay luz. Esto aplica a las cumbres y miradores que rodean la ciudad, según ellos. ->Acampar: Si puede acampar, tomar sus precauciones. ->Visita: Dia de semana, Marzo del 2022.

Such a lovely place. It is great for amateurs to have an initial mini hike on the day of arrival to Huaraz. It is short it walks you through the city, which is very interesting and it ends to a lovely view. There is also a cafeteria at the top for a small stop with food and drinks. Definitely recommend it as a starting point.

Pretty views but because of dogs I do not recommend it. If you go there take a big stick and do not take any of the paths leading off from the main view point. I thought I could get a better view taking what looked like a public path on MapsMe but 5 minutes down the path and I was attacked by a large dog - very scary experience and was scratched by it. Even the walk from the city to the viewing point feels quiet and a little sketchy with lots of angry dogs. All in all just...

WARNING: We went to the mirador and decided to go further op the road to get a nice view. After 2,5 kilometres an armed man jumped from the bushes, pointed his gun at us and told us to give him all our values. He ran off with a phone and our money, nothing else happened. The police is patrolling the road until the cross but not after, therefore we highly recommend NOT to go further...
