Our situation was unusual, but that should make this review of interest to you. We are full-time hiking guides based in the U.S. We gathered several strong, experienced American hiking friends. Our group of seven then employed Peruvian Andes Adventures for an entire month. We did a week's worth of acclimation dayhikes with them. We trekked with them in the Cordillera Huayhuash, then the Cordillera Blanca. And, in between all those days in the Andes, our group lived at the Peruvian Andes Adventures (PAA) guest house in Huaraz, where we ate breakfast every morning and dinner nearly every evening. Anne, who is the PAA coordinator based in New Zealand, communicated with us promptly and knowledgeably over the course of many months prior to our time in Peru. Hisao, who leads PAA in Huaraz, cheerfully, efficiently supervised everything we did and was always available for advice. The PAA team running the guest house—Yovana, Maritza, Gina, and Lucy—kept it pleasingly clean and comfortable throughout our stay. With unwavering ebullience they served us delicious, healthy, filling meals in their upstairs dining room, which affords a captivating mountain panorama. Our trekking guide, Jonathan Morales, was marvelous. He accompanied us on several acclimation dayhikes as well as throughout both treks. He was always calm, always smiling, always easy and fun to be around, and managed everything perfectly. His team—Tonio, Lolo, Oro, as well as all the arrieros (donkey wranglers)—worked ceaselessly to keep all of us comfortable and our expedition moving forward. The food they served us was restaurant quality. Yes, in the outback! Even on the trail between campsites! They are extraordinary men, possessing the strength and endurance of Olympic athletes and the unwavering equanimity of Buddhist monks. These happy, kind, gentle, humble Peruvians showed us what it means to live simply and beautifully. By the end of our last trek, our gratitude to Jonathan, Tonio, Lolo, Oro and the others brought us to tears. So if you're still reading this you know by now that we enthusiastically urge you to go trekking in the Andes, not only because the mountains are astonishing, but because you have the opportunity to experience those mountains as easily, safely and blissfully as possible: with the unwavering support of, and in the joyful company of, this astonishing group of people who call themselves "Peruvian Andes Adventures." — Craig & Skye Copeland, Utah...
Read moreI highly, highly, highly recommend Peruvian Andes Adventures (PAA). We selected them after I had a long conversation with another couple who had used them for Huayhuash and Cordillera Blanca treks. In June and July 2025 my wife, 4 adult children, and son-in-law completed a 10-day Huayhuash trek guided by PAA. We have backpacked a lot, but this trip took things to an entirely different level…literally and figuratively. We live at sea level, so had to plan to acclimatize to the 13,000-16,000 foot elevations. We arrived in Huaraz a few days early, took 2 acclimatizing day hikes, then started the trek. Communication with PAA was easy, accurate, and comprehensive. There were no surprises. We stayed at Morales Guest House before the trek. Great accommodations and wonderful meals. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Once on the trek we were impressed each day. On our first day my daughter had altitude problems. Our guide calmly took control and navigated us through. All 7 of us were able to complete the journey. Each person on the PAA team worked efficiently. We had great meals and good campsite setup throughout the trek. We had a once-in-a-lifetime trip, thanks in large part to these detail-oriented, friendly professionals. A...
Read moreEvery year, my wife and I trek somewhere in the world for a week or two, always self supported. This year we decided to do the Huayhuash Circuit, but do it with a guide. After talking to four different outfits in town, we decided to go with Peruvian Andes Adventures. We were blown away by the service of all their staff. They were very easy to deal with in the planning stages, providing lots of detailed information about the area, the trek, the logistics, etc. We were very particular about the itinerary and they work with us to make our specific desires happen. On the trek, we were blown away by the service of the guide, the cook, and the donkey drivers. Our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable, friendly, and bent over backwards to ensure we were happy. We are both in excellent shape, so he worked with us each day to add extra mileage and tweek the route to do some harder hiking. Our cook made the most amazing Peruvian food, and it may be the only trek where I gained weight. While some other folks walking with other companies were complaining about all the soup they had to eat, we were having bacon wrapped filet mignon and fresh trout caught...
