Port Barton Beach — Attraction in Roxas

Nice colour but not very clear water (but better than El Nido beaches) and quite a lot of boats daytime in January 2019. Getting more tourist crowded lately but not like El Nido. Go to the beach at night away from the centra lit up area to where is pitch black and enter the water and you will see the luminicent plankton light up on the water as you move your hand body or feet through the water. This was really magic and i stayed for hours just swooshing my hand in the water to see 100s of green glowing plankton light up. Beware though at night as there were dogs that acted pretty agressive as you pass by down the beach at night. Tourist prices vary A LOT on the beach bars. Up to 3-400% difference and its not really location based. The cheapest bar we found was actually right at the entry of the beach (left side) and they also had the best sweet potato fries found in town, ultra crisp and big enough for a decent filling. The meat we not very good though. Better prices than El Nido for sure and you could actually find stores that sold you ice cold beer according to the price stated on the cap (for locals :-) ) (its marked on all local san miguel beer) making it cheaper...

Port Barton: sencillez que enamora

A las 7:45 en punto llegó nuestro tuk-tuk para llevarnos al Central Market, punto de partida de nuestra travesía hacia Port Barton. Optamos por el viaje en banga en lugar del camino por carretera, ya que la ruta costera resulta complicada. Bon Bon, la persona que organizó el trayecto, nos esperaba con una sonrisa y todo listo para zarpar.

Navegar por la costa fue una experiencia inolvidable. El mar, sereno y brillante, nos regalaba postales vivas: pequeñas islas salpicadas a lo lejos, playas vírgenes y un horizonte que se fundía con el cielo. La brisa suave nos acariciaba el rostro, el sonido constante del motor de la banga acompañaba nuestros pensamientos, y una sensación de libertad nos envolvía por completo.

Nuestra tripulación, Sheirin y Raimon, fue de una amabilidad excepcional. La calidez y hospitalidad de los filipinos es, sin duda, una de las grandes riquezas de este país. Durante todo el recorrido apenas nos cruzamos con otras embarcaciones, lo que intensificó la magia del viaje. Al llegar a Port Barton, notamos un ambiente muy diferente al de San Vicente: aquí la presencia del turismo internacional aporta un aire más animado y vibrante.

El ir y venir de los tuk-tuks, los restaurantes que se preparan para la jornada, y el bullicio suave de los visitantes contrastan con la tranquilidad que dejamos atrás. Port Barton, cercano a El Nido, va ganando popularidad por su encanto discreto. Aunque no tiene la espectacularidad de su vecino, posee una esencia serena que nos cautivó.

Lo que realmente nos sorprendió fue el esfuerzo de su administración local por planificar un crecimiento turístico responsable, con normas claras y un urbanismo más exigente. A pesar de que las comunicaciones por carretera aún son rudimentarias —caminos de tierra que la lluvia deteriora con facilidad—, se están haciendo mejoras poco a poco.

Tanto San Vicente como Port Barton tienen un futuro prometedor, aunque es probable que este último avance con mayor rapidez. Pequeñas casas junto al mar, atardeceres que parecen pintados y playas de ensueño que invitan a pasear son solo parte de su magia. Aquí se viene a desconectar, a hacer snorkel, a disfrutar del mar y la calma.

Imprescindibles: el island hopping, las playas de Coconut Beach, Pamuayan Beach y White Beach, y, para los más activos, las Pamuayan Falls. Port Barton es el destino perfecto para quienes buscan belleza natural, tranquilidad y...

Lovely spot with plenty of shade on the beach; but beware kids and adults not advised to swim apart from on islands due to jellyfish. Kind of spoils idyllic family stay which this place really could be. People and safety are great. Food options plentiful and well-made but getting expensive for where we are. Food costs more than accommodation. Too many dogs fighting and barking. They hang around your table with staff no regard to send them on their way. Dogs trying to climb chairs, steal food or stand above your kids isn’t welcome. Quite a bit of trash in the beach at lower tide.
