WIth so many reviews detailing the variety and types of food eatery choices here, I will forego all of that. This is a very trendy, modern space with a post-industrial, modern feel. Catering to younger, and more upscale tastes, this place attracts a diverse crowd. I get the feeling that many are here just to be seen more than they are here to eat, or drink. Regardless, this is a truly unique experience, and worth seeing. There are some disappointments. The atmosphere, and design sets a high bar. A bar that is not met by the individual businesses. At the central bar, I had the experience of sitting down, making eye contact with several employees, and then watching them stand there, talk amongst themselves and never come to ask if I needed anything. There was a young woman busily making drinks and taking orders, when she finally had time to come to me, she did come over and then bring a beer. Now, this is very common at restaurants in Poland, I had expected better service though in a location promising a more modern metropolitan experience. Many of the food options are offered from open-concept kitchens, with glass windows allowing a peek inside. However, that magic only works when the view is a clean one. Dirty floors, or used prep dishes stacked on top of food items may deflate your experience. Please don't mistake my critique for a bad experience. I visit this place frequently, I even like to show it off to visitors. But do temper your expectations a bit if you're looking for a modern upscale metropolitan experience. This place is a bit more hipster college food court than it is a modern metropolitan...
Read moreThis is the new foodie experience for Warsaw - at least at the time of visiting Hala Koszyki at the end of 2016 / start of 2017 it is. For those coming from cosmopolitan world cities, this place is nothing new as a destination for the foodie ilk, but is well worth a visit. The hall (hala) is a restored and renovated site. Running down the middle of the main hall is a long, central bar. Around the sides are various eateries of various types - from the traditional style Bierhalle (which is seemingly both Polish and German traditional), to sushi, tapas, chocolates, vegan, Italian, Indian and Thai, to cafés, juices and food based around "sprouts, shoots, edible flowers and grasses" - there should be something for everyone here. On top of the eateries, the food theme continues with a supermarket, organic shop, a cheese-shop/deli and a homewares store. Then there is a book shop, a planned gallery and more. The building itself is a very nice blend of the old and new and, as the whole concept is also designed as a destination, there is a cloak room, so that people can settle in unfettered and enjoy their evening. I can certainly see this being the case as the atmosphere is both spacious and convivial and the offerings catering to a wide variety of tastes and needs. If you want a one-stop place to meet friends in the evening, a quick bite to eat or to buy some quality groceries or even chocolates for a present, this place...
