We went to take the Elevador a bit before 8:30PM as it closes at 9PM.
I rarely experienced such a terrible welcoming in my entire life. The person in charge on that day "welcomed" us in a very rude way, almost yelling at us. He said that we "lucky" to be able to take the elevator at this time, because usually he closes at least 30mn before because otherwise "People will want to use the toilets or the elevator" and the person said that they "will never able to finish work on time".
While I can understand this statement to a certain extent, there is nothing to justify the tone and the aggressivity of this person towards us.
We told the worker that it's not even 8:30PM and that it closes in at least 30mn, while the climb doesn't even take more than 2mn. To which, again, he replied aggressively and hurried us to hop in the elevator.
In other words, I think a better structure must be put in place to assure that people can take the lift until 9PM, and to guarantee that the person working is also able to finish their day of work in time. Finally, maybe a bit more courtesy will be required for this very person.
P.S. the view wasn't even enjoyable because of this and that the...
Read moreInteresting experience. Walked back from the Statue of Christ to the ferry terminal via the elevator and walking track. Great views from the top as well as below. The elevator is glass, but the window was dirty.
It does the job. It’s a little slow and was quite dirty when we went. Got us down, though we were dubious at first when we saw the graffiti covered door and derelict surroundings. There was a lift attendant inside who didn’t say much.
The area didn’t feel very safe, but when we got to the bottom there was a lovely little park with lots of people around watching the sunset. Wonderful views of the bridge.
There are toilets at the bottom of the elevator. Can’t remember, but I think probably required payment.
The walk back to the ferry along the water passed lots of derelict, graffiti covered buildings. Some were filled with garbage. Not quite what I expected. Despite that, There were plenty of people walking and the views to the water...
