The Biscainhos is a lovely museum or more accurately historical residence.

When we visited there was a rather rushed tour guide ushered us through the rooms at an accelerated pace. That said, we did arrive just before closing, on an important national holiday.

The rooms themselves are typically historical, with suitably period-appropriate paintings and furniture, but nothing that stands out. Perhaps with more time, and a better back-story it would resonate more.

The gardens were charming but strangely threadbare in places. The gardeners may have had the month off, I think.

All in all, not bad. Worth a visit, but give yourself more time to make the...

Lots of history here if you love it. I do! Worth the stop, a mostly self-guided tour with friendly staff to help point you in the right direction. More information is available in holders on laminated placards in several languages. You basically have to look everywhere from the ceiling to the floors. It's painted and tiled almost everywhere inside. Baroque history and I think it's amazing that the items displayed made it for us to see in the here and now. The Gardens are free and the tour is just €2. We went in the Winter so the garden was waiting for Spring. I don't doubt it is...

This was a great museum! A great peak into the lives of the wealthy in the 18th century. The gardens are expansive and beautiful. Worth the visit for anyone who appreciates preserved time capsules like this. There was no renovations going on as I saw in previous reviews unless they were in bedrooms, which we did not see or perhaps they’re normally not on exhibit. The staff was also very friendly
