The Sinagoga de Castelo de Vide is a hidden gem that beautifully preserves the history of the Jewish community in Portugal. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the incredibly friendly reception staff, who made us feel right at home. Their knowledge and passion for the place added to the overall experience.
Stepping inside, it felt like we were transported back in time. The synagogue, though small, is filled with rich history, showcasing the resilience and traditions of the Jewish people who once lived here. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, and the atmosphere is truly immersive. One of the highlights was the incredibly lifelike wax figures, which brought the past to life in a way we didn’t expect. Their realistic expressions and period clothing made us feel as though we were standing among the people of that era.
The museum provides valuable insight into the Jewish heritage of Castelo de Vide, and it’s a must-visit for anyone interested in history and culture. Whether you have a deep knowledge of Jewish history or are just curious, this place offers a fascinating and emotional experience. We left with a newfound appreciation for the town’s past and would highly recommend a visit to anyone traveling...

Free entry to this quirky wee building with very low doorways and small rooms but it’s perfectly renovated and maintained and definitely worth a visit...
