If you're in Lisbon and looking for a truly immersive cultural experience, The Queen of Fado at Ah Amélia is an absolute must-visit. This unique exhibition beautifully captures the life and legacy of Amália Rodrigues, Portugal’s most iconic Fado singer, taking visitors on a journey through her incredible career and global impact.

From the very start, our guide Daniel brought Amália’s story to life with fascinating insights—not only about her music but also about his own family connection to her, as his grandmother was one of Amália’s lifelong best friends. His passion and knowledge added a deeply personal touch to the experience.

The exhibition itself is brilliantly curated. It showcases Amália’s travels across the world, performing for audiences from Paris to Japan, and highlights the profound influence she had on Portuguese culture. One of the most captivating parts was hearing her voice in multiple languages, reinforcing her status as a true global artist. The interactive displays, including immersive Fado house recreations, allowed us to step into the intimate world of this traditional music genre.

The experience culminates in a live show that was simply breathtaking—a perfect tribute to the Queen of Fado. The entire visit was both educational and emotional, leaving us with a deep appreciation for Amália’s artistry and legacy.

If you're in Lisbon, don’t miss this! Highly...

When the skies are grey and the air crisp in Lisbon, Ah! Amália is really a heartwarming and immersive experience that warms you up. Celebrating the life and legacy of Amália Rodrigues, the Queen of Fado, this exhibition is the first fully immersive biographical tribute to a Portuguese figure.

From the moment you step in, the dedication and passion of the staff shine through. Remarkably knowledgeable, many are musicians themselves and even connected to Amália’s own couturier, adding a deeply personal touch to the journey. Their love for Amália and her cultural significance is palpable and contagious.

The exhibition gracefully evolves from the physical to the digital, leading visitors through sensory layers of her story. Rich in visuals, music, and poetry, it culminates in holographic performance that brings Amália back to life with mesmerizing authenticity.

Ah! Amália is quite perfect for locals and tourists alike, it offers a sensory feast that connects visitors to the heart of Portugal. On a rainy or chilly day, there’s no better way to warm your spirit than to step into the world of Amália and be inspired by some...

Ah Amália offers a fresh and creative take on museum storytelling — immersive, visually striking, and emotionally engaging. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design and atmosphere, making it a unique cultural stop in Lisbon.

That said, to truly appreciate the experience, it's essential to have some prior knowledge (and appreciation) of who Amália Rodrigues was. Without that context, parts of the museum might feel a bit abstract or less engaging.

The ticket price feels a little steep considering the museum’s size — it's not very large, and the visit doesn't take too long. Still, for fans of Fado or Portuguese culture, it's a moving and modern tribute to a national icon.

Overall, worth visiting if you're already interested in Amália or want something different from the typical...

It is 20 or 17 euros (if 65+) but what an incredible light and sound room. Really give you a great education on Fado and this Portugese Fado star. Personal tour in first section but give you time to just explore on your own. Guide times it to the interests. Highly recommend. It is in an older warehouse part of town that is attempting to bring a young work/live vibe to the area.

€12 per person. The exhibit room seemed boring to Kids, as they were not familiar with Amalia Rodrigues . However, they did enjoy the room full of lights and the experience of wearing VR goggles and flying across in the virtual world . It was a great way to learn about the time when she was successful in the U.S. and other parts of the world. The dress room was lovely.

If you want to learn about Fado, start here! There’s a reason they are nominated for the for the World Travel Awards for "Europe's Leading New Tourist Attraction". Amazing use of new technologies for a great visitor experience - 10/10
