Avoid. There are maybe two nice streets about 20m or so long each, the rest is incredibly run down if you walk down the sea front. When we visited there was a really unpleasant, dystopian wasteland vibe to the whole town.

There were people helping to find parking spaces at the car park directly on the bay... expecting cash payment...watch out for them, they clearly do not work there.. There is a parking meter and I believe parking is even free on certain days.

There were a considerable number of homeless people in the local area which added to the uneasy feel. We didn't really feel safe for most of our stay there.

On the positive side, the bay looks nice on a sunny day.. It has a seal picture made out of rubbish on a wall next to it..this is apparently one of the towns main attractions...dont get me wrong it's a cool bit of art, but feels a bit like trying to scrape the barrel to find something good to say...

There is a view point at the top of the town, some nice views from just next to the kids play park to enjoy, but those same nice views can be found anywhere in maderia such Is the countries beauty and honestly there are more welcoming places to...

Walked to this little village port from our hotel, the Alto Lido . This was not the intention when my wife and I set off for a stroll but 5.4km later, a swim and a pit stop for a couple of drinks and a ham toastie we were there, completed in flip-flops. It’s a great walk along the coastal path with plenty of eateries along the way, views are fantastic. The harbour has crystal clear water with lots of small boats. We had just missed a local festival but the main stage in the harbour was still there and the narrow streets still adorned with hanging decorations which made it even more quaint. We are planning to visit again in the evening and take in the evening atmosphere at one of the many harbour bars / restaurants. A must visit when...

Lovely fishing town with a dark side. The good - Lovely harbour area popular with holiday makers which many arrive by buses, jeep, coaches and taxis. Quite a few excellent restraunts, narrow streets all filled with art. Well worth staying here or visiting for the day. Gets extremely busy when festivals on. The bad - There appears to be a serious drugs problem, we have seen people openly preparing crystal substances and then being semi unconscious for quite a time. Think this is also linked to carpark beggars who hassel people for money when parking after assisting them to park ? No signs of police stopping any of this. Saying that, never...

Câmara de Lobos Harbour is a charming spot with colourful fishing boats, quaint streets, and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s an excellent place to spend a few hours strolling along the waterfront, enjoying fresh seafood at a local restaurant, or sipping a Poncha, the traditional Madeiran drink. The surrounding scenery, with cliffs and clear waters, is beautiful and perfect for photos. However, the area is relatively small, and there wouldn’t be enough to keep you occupied for an entire evening or longer. It’s ideal for a short visit or as a stop while exploring the island.
