Minerva is a hidden gem in the south of Madeira, tucked away in a cosy little village. Even though the area is touristic, this spot feels calm and quiet, the perfect escape for a relaxing meal. The view from the restaurant is simply incredible, making the location worth it on its own.
Menu: The food was outstanding. We started with aubergine prepared in a special way that really surprised us, followed by a perfectly cooked tuna dish. To finish, we shared two desserts that were both amazing – beautifully presented and full of flavor. The balance of creativity and freshness in the dishes really stood out.
Service: The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, adding to the whole experience. They clearly care about making guests feel comfortable.
Price: Considering the quality of the food, the view, and the level of service, the price felt very fair. It’s not the cheapest option around, but absolutely worth it for the experience.
Overall, Minerva combines a breathtaking location, delicious food, and top-notch service at a fair price – highly recommended! I’ve attached some photos so you can see how...
Read moreThe whole experience here was a mess. We came there, had a reservation, ordered our food and drinks. We waited for the drinks alone about 20-30 min, then the appetizers came in about 30 min later so after 1 hour. We ordered beetroot with cottage cheese walnuts honey and mustard, it was missing honey and mustard and the so called toasts were hard as rock, literally it tasted like it was from yesterday. After sitting there for 1,5 hour waiting for our mains- which were mostly sandwiches- we seen people that came after us get food and we were the only table missing anything to eat. We decided to leave without the mains and the waiter rudeness was unacceptable. He looked at us told us that everyone has to wait, which wasn’t true everyone but us got food within that hour and there absolutely no one else sitting in the restaurant besides the whole balcony which we were sitting in as well. Overall the only nice thing about this place is the balcony which has a view of the marina, that’s it, i highly advise you not...
Read moreWhat a gem find on the harbour front ( just slightly tucked back) It is not appealing to look at and if it wasn't for the fact I needed to sit at the time at the back, I would not have attempted to visit. Tip to the owners- decorate/accessorise up and people will likely be more interested. The chairs and tables are bland. The patio is bland and devoid of any colour etc. BUT the food was amazing. Only a small menu but quality and very tasty. I had the black scabbard fish sandwich ( crisps on the side) and it was just perfect, fresh, and.cooked well. My partner had the beef tongue sandwich. We had a jug of red wine sangria which was delicious. Noticed people looking but the hotel in front was more appealing. Also no menu displayed at the bottom of the steps. Guys you are missing a trick with your advertising/appeal . Let people get in to taste how good your...
