Fundação António Cupertino de Miranda — Attraction in Porto

The Foundation António Cupertino de Miranda is a private, non-profit institution whose mission is to carry out educational and cultural activities that promote the knowledge society and contribute to social inclusion, while providing opportunities for leisure time. Foundation has been increasing the physical structures - the built area is currently 4,000m2. The headquarters has auditoriums and exhibition halls, equipped with modern audio and video projection systems, videoconferencing and simultaneous translation. There is also a restaurant open daily. Congresses, temporary exhibitions, concerts and debates permanently animate the spaces. In addition to the activities and projects that are part of its own programming, the Foundation is open to initiatives from other entities, welcoming quality cultural and artistic manifestations. Artur Cupertino Miranda becomes, through his financial vision and fruitful activity, one of the greatest figures in Portuguese banking. In 1919, he opens in Porto, with his brother Augusto, the Casa Bancária Cupertino de Miranda & Irmão, Lda., transformed in 1942 into Banco Português do Atlântico. In the 60s, he acquired a farm in the Algarve, with 1700 hectares, and conceived a large tourist project, equipped with a marina, hotels, casino and golf courses, thus founding Lusotur. He gave vitality to several companies, such as Companhia Vidreira Nacional (Covina), Companhia Vidreira Brasileira (Covibra), Companhia de Fomento Colonial and Sociedade Algodoeira de Portugal. Recently attended a conference in this venue and it was a beautiful venue with a main auditorium. They have converted two smaller rooms into an auditorium too. There was a paper money museum within the venue. They also have a restaurant within the venue and the food served there was good. Overall a great place to attend a conference. Passei a noite da passagem de ano nesta fundação. Sinceramente o serviço ficou aquém das minhas expectativas... para começar penso que enchem o espaço com demasiadas mesas, ficando pouco espaço de circulação e para a pista de dança. Demoraram muito tempo a servir e começaram por servir quem chegou bem mais tarde... relativamente à comida servida, a opção de peixe foi má. Como não como arroz, em alternativa ao arroz de tamboril, deram- me apenas um filhete de pescada sem sabor e sem qualquer acompanhamento (uma vez que o único acompanhanto disponível seria igualmente arroz!). As entradas e o prato de carne estavam razoáveis, mas achei o bufete de doces muito fraco, com alguma fruta agradável mas os doces eram...
