Quinta da Foz — Attraction in Sabrosa

We got the £30 wine tasting. The first tour was full so we were offered the second one, all the tours include a visit plus tasting. When we arrived there, Inês, the tour guide/tasting person, said that we were going straight to the tasting as the second tour of the day one doesn't include the visit. I was not told this prior getting there and that point I was very tired and too hot to argue. We had the tasting and I asked if we could at least briefly see the cellar and a bit of the production as I thought that was included as in my emails exchange with them, she replied that was OK but she will do this as a treat for us (as a treat! it was included in our tour!) when we finished the tasting she was almost saying goodbye and I had to 'remind' her to give us a brief tour, it felt like I was asking for a favour. So we had the other part of the tour (she only showed us 1 room), which lasted about 2 minutes, I think probably she wanted to finish for the day and wasn't too bothered as we were only 2 in that tour so probably wouldn't end up in a big sale for them, but that's not my fault. So if you go there make sure they provide the full service you are paying for, £30 is not so cheap if it doesn't even include a 20 minute visit. Other than that, it was OK, nothing special to remember. ANSWER TO YOUR VERY ANGRY COMMENT: I think you should then review how you communicate with your customers and customers should read the small print, because your email wasn't clear enough. I visited many wineries all over the world (I'm also from Argentina, a huge wine country and I know the industry) and I never had this issue before. The tour guide showed us only where the wine is pressed with the feet, she didn't show us the old vines either, for clarification. Also, why would you offer a tour and tasting for the same price as just the tasting, that doesn't make any sense and no one would agree to purchase that, of course as a customer you would always go with the full product. I'm being totally honest with my review and I would really appreciate that you respect my opinion and acknowledge in a polite way what I'm saying, your response is just a proof that many things are wrong with the place. I don't care if it's a small company or family run company, or even a big company, if you offer a service it should meet the expectations and should not have a small print, nevertheless...

Excellent service! Carina was exceptionally friendly! We were a group of two, and on the day of our visit (08/2024), the classic and superior tastings were €30 each.

We chose to do the Quinta da Foz superior (with 5 DOC Douro wines) and Quinta do Covão Superior (with 5 DOC Dão wines). During the tasting, they served cream crackers and extra virgin olive oil from the same property to cleanse the palate.

With these options, in addition to the wine tasting, we visited the production area (lagares) and the cellar. We loved not being rushed to finish our wine tasting, and Carina provided all the necessary information.

The wine tasting was held in an air-conditioned room, which was a relief given the extremely hot day. Although the tasting itself is not done with river views, the property has a beautiful outdoor area with views of the river, making the visit very enjoyable.

The setting was beautiful and we would have loved to taste here. We tried to make reservations online but the site struggled to load (tried on cellular and wifi). We decided to walk in and see if we could have a tasting as the other wineries here accept walk ins. This place said they have tours only but we can wait and see if someone does not show up. This is perfectly fine and understandable. The turn off came with the over explanation over and over and over, we started to feel unwelcome. Were we missing something? If there is no room, say so. It feels uncomfortable when one is explained to over and over that she may not be accommodated leaving the feeling of unwelcome discomfort and the obligation to realize you are not wanted and decide to leave.
