Sabores do Douro — Restaurant in Alijó

The pictures I posted here and the commanding view of this restaurant do not do the food any justice. We ordered the roasted cod (special for the day) and the ribeye steak. The roasted cod, while decent doesn't taste like fresh cod. We could be wrong about that. But it didn't flake like a fresh cod does. Probably frozen.

The steak arrived underdone and sorely lacking seasoning. We sent it back and it arrived back more roasted but still very very pink in the centre, and tasting like wet sock. Again, the meat probably wasn't fresh but frozen.

Overall, the worst meal we had in Portugal. I wish I didn't have to say all this, but I must for the sake of other tourists.

Worst experience ever!

Very bad quality of food. I ordered the salmon which included 2 pieces. One of them was quite ok and rosé, the other one was white. I must say, I’ve never seen a cooked salmon that is white! Also you get some bread whithout asking for it and even if you’re not eating the bread, you have to pay €3. My partner ordered a meat dish which was inedible because of all the tendons. We kindly asked the waitress if she could do something about our bill, since my partner only ate the potatoes and i ate half a piece of salmon, she wouldn’t take any feedback and was very unfriendly towards us. Recommended by our AirBnb host and we are definitely not disappointed. The restaurant atmostphere is cosy and elegant. The service is excellent, very friendly and professionsal.
