My husband and I were staying in Folgosa and went into Pinhao for dinner. First of all, looks like everything shuts down on a Sunday. We are visiting from Canada but speak Portuguese fluently as we are originally from the Azores. They had a large group with a tour guide and we thought that if the tours stop there, it must be alright. Were we wrong! The servers hardly made eye contact with us and were so focused on the group that we were 2nd fidel. But we were so hungry we stayed. Got our food pretty quickly, we ordered a Salad to start and veal chops with potatoes o'gratin. During our salad my husband asked for olive oil....he's still waiting for it. Then the veal chops came. It would be fine if I were a lion and enjoyed red meat but I preferred my cooked. This was beyond rare. The servers never checked in with us afterwards to see if all was well. I tried to eat my way through but there was so much fat as well, it just wasn't doing it. My husband stopped one of the servers and asked for his meat to be put back on the grill. They never apologized but cheerfully brought me a bill for 31.50 Euros. I've had great bacalhau in Portugal already. Unfortunately, this one was chewy and too salty. All the side dishes (rosemary puree, bread, olives...) were nice.
