Café Império — Restaurant in Alijó

We went there before taking a boat tour on the Douro and afterward. It is next to the train station, so very practical to take refuge out of the sun or the rain. They were very friendly, and the place has a unique collection of objects. We took a brunch waffle (which was as delicious as the Belgian one from home), and a vegetarian burger with fries. The cappuccino was also great with the cinnamon touch (will steal this idea to do it at home), and refreshments. It was tasty and affordable We went back after the tour and we were welcome again with a smile. Thank you for the hospitality and we wish you the best!

We absolutely loved this little gem of a place, directly opposite the exit from Pinhao Train Station. There was a nice atmosphere, the barman serving was very polite and friendly and the food we ate (rolls) and drink (coffees and beers) were lovely. It was peaceful, relaxing, a nice place to chillout. You felt like a local! We enjoyed our visit there so much prior to our winery tour, that we went back there afterwards while waiting for our train. The food was good. The cafe looked very cosy :) When we came into the cafe, Pedro was a bit busy. He apologized for it but i thought it was not nessecary because he was on his own.
