Marina da Afurada — Attraction in Vila Nova de Gaia

: the pricelist online is not up to date; we had to pay 50% more than we expected according the online pricelist. If you have a catamaran the E-pontoon is not without 30% surcharge anymore. You’ll pay the same price as the other pontoons. Also starting from the 1st of June the pricelist changed again; getting more expensive. : There’s a lot of current at the E-pontoon and incoming traffic creates quite some movements. : E-pontoon is quite a walk to the office/bathrooms and back. : The showers (ladies) look disgusting. : Expensive harbour; there’s a little discount of 10% if you stay 3 nights or more, for 7 nights 15%. This marina is in terms of services, cost, and fairness to it's customers a disaster to sailors.

We were here a year ago and left with a voucher for 15% discount for the next port/Marina's.

This voucher nowhere got honoured. (Who would suspect this anyway). If your service is below standards - eg showers either Too cold or Too hot - either you fix this or you give a discount. You don't fool your customer pretending you get a discount in a next port. To me it felt like an insult.

Also the excuses, cop out, for the hardly available wifi are not acceptable.

Yes the other reviews are true: The scenery, the local village, nearby public transport, the more than terrific restaurants are present. BUT this is not because of the marina management.

This year we see little sailing vessels in this marina. They go now to Leixoes.

Marina business is hard nowaDays. Dropping visitors, outdated business plans / models, berth cost not matching nowadays expectations. The above outline describes why a lot of Marina's will go bust eventually.

It has to...... Will this line of business be able to compete with other ways of leisure a major shift will make them. I can't wait to see...

Update from April 2022: We called into this marina again and they have clearly maintained their excellent standard. Through email and phone calls prior to our arrival, they assisted greatly with coordinating various official activities and made our brief visit work smoothly. The dock team were there to help with arrival and departure, and the lady in the office recognised us from our visit over four years ago! Thoroughly recommended.
