Recently, I had the opportunity to dine at this lovely fish restaurant. It's a charming place boasting a fine selection of seafood with a particularly commendable focus on quality.
The food was the shining star of our visit. Every bite was a testament to the freshness of their produce. The standout dish, undoubtedly, was the sea bass. Grilled to perfection, it was a delightful combination of delicate flavors and textures that truly allowed the quality of the fish to shine through. It was truly one of the best seafood experiences I have had in a while. Still, the fish from the Mediterranean has another, unique level of taste.
However, our visit wasn't without its hiccups. There was a significant misunderstanding regarding our order. We had requested 2 kilos of fish, but were served more than double that. The result was not only an excess of food but a significantly larger bill than we had anticipated. While this was an issue, the staff was quite helpful and tried to mitigate the situation as much as possible, which was appreciated.
What was less appreciated, however, was a separate incident involving a member of the staff accidentally dropping an oiled spoon on my back. Though it was clearly accidental and the staff member did apologize, it did add a slightly sour note to an otherwise good dining experience.
Overall, the restaurant shows promise with its delightful seafood and generally helpful staff. However, there is room for improvement in terms of communication and careful handling of tableware. I recommend this place to seafood lovers, but do ensure to double-check your order...
Read moreI've decided to go to this restaurant because it was a recommendation from a close friend that lives in Porto. The food was tasty and came in good amounts – despite the fact that some things seem to be a little bit overpriced (e.g., 3 euros for a bread basket that didn't look very appealing or a single portion of olives). What really disappointed me was the service: chaotic, not very friendly and inattentive: first in the lounge the bar woman told that she didn't have a menu and didn't put any effort trying to explain the options. I've asked for a coke and the answer was that they don't serve coke in that area (really?). Then, when seated, our waiter Jessica just brought one menu, and started dropping things, little by little, on the table: menu, glasses, silverware, etc. No a single good night or a friendly sentence. I have to say that the octopus salad was okay and the "caldeirada" (fish stew) was very tasty and well served – we couldn`t eat everything and I've asked for a lunchbox to take away the leftovers. At this time, things were a little bit better and I was kind of enjoying. But when paying the bill the outcome was bad and I'm not intending to come back. They charged me for the bread that I've never ordered and forgot to bring my lunchbox – I think, by the time, that probably it was already in the trash. I thought about complaining but I was not in the mood... just wanted to come back home and get some rest...
Read moreIf you want to see and be seen, then this is the sort of place that will be a fit. A stylish restaurant with well groomed patrons and a staff that is quite pretentious.
We had booked to take family to a nice meal, but after a day of eating in different restaurants, were looking for a lighter meal. The first sign of the staff being unhappy was when the waiter's offer of a large sea bass for 5 people being turned down by my wife, who together with all our family preferred to opt for the octopus (which was not the lightest). Saying no to dessert (after days of eating sweets) seemed to be considered an insult. The attitude of staff was both aloof and haughty and detracted from the lovely setting.
Food was good but not outstanding. Portions good but not great (octopus could have had more octopus and less potatoes, for example). Basically, you paid for the reputation of the restaurant and there was not really a stand-out dish.
Really thought for these prices that we would experience a more experimental approach to cooking, or traditional dishes with a twist...but most of the fish seemed just to be expensive grilled fish.
In summary, a restaurant to which you take someone if you wish to impress them with the swish ambience but not for service nor...
