A’Furada is an old ex-“Fishing Village”- reimagined as a Restaurant-area near the Ocean, serving wood-grilled-Seafood (& weak Sangria) to locals( but mostly Tourists🤔)
If you make your €€€ from those outside your Borders, wouldn’t you care to be sure, they “tell-their-friends”, how well they were received in A’furada?
Isn’t the Hospitality Industry predicated on a melange of Service/Cooking/and Ambiance? The staff of Casa do F.C. never “got” that Memo! To act like you DO NOT CARE, about the customer(s), is NOT a signal to me-a returning Customer, I should ever “care” enough about your tired, bored, lazy staff enough to return. The servers were so-bored- they would “Spy” the street(s) and announce to their colleagues when they spotted TOURISTAS approaching from down the street.
A “check-back”, is a common Hospitality Industry standard. If you do NOT care enough about your customers to ask- “is everything OK?” ( “Todo Bien”?) or to “attempt”!? to speak in English, a fairly common language of Tourists only shows that you should NOT WORK in the Hospitality Industry. Go sell shoes. Go make Video Games. Go clean your Uncles boat. But do not insult the people (Customers) that put food in your mouth. The Fish was well cooked, put- guys- maybe some seasoning? Even Black Pepper & Sea Salt maybe? Or Garlic Powder? Something to enhance the Catch of The Day? Or-maybe… Take your Boring-Boiled-Potatoes-Smash-‘em--and-Set-on-The-Fire-For-1.5 minutes- to enhance their Flavor + Texture? It’s not Gourmet-Cooking, just thinking like a Chef! Or maybe to wash your (teeny) Squid, so it is not sandy or gritty, like mine were served?! Is that, too much to ask? Maybe? you don’t care? But the way that your staff acts, doesn’t make me- a returning Customer, ever want to return, for bad Service & average-to below average...
Read moreYou can’t get more authentic than this place. Excellent Portuguese cuisine in the heart of a little village called São Pedro da Afurada. Starting with the location, São Pedro da Afurada is a little village at the end of Vila Nova de Gaia, it is about 45 minutes walking from Vila Nova de Gaia and you can't get more local than this village, it is a fish market area with many places selling fresh seafood and fresh vegetables. This restaurant will serve you authentic and fresh Portuguese dishes, and you can be sure that the seafood will be fresh of the day. The price is excellent for the quality you are getting, the restaurant is very simple but cosy and relaxing. Large portions of fresh, perfectly cooked fish that was full of flavour. The service is great. The wine is inexpensive and delicious. Tatiana was our waitress and we didn't have to wait for a second to get seated. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want to taste what is the real deal in...
Read moreThis place was recommended by a friend, and it was really amazing. We had to wait almost an hour for a table, pick time from 2-3pm as it was very busy, but you can tell it’s good , full of locals and tourists. The food is fresh and really tasty! We had sardines and grilled squids and salad. It comes with garlicky boiled potatoes, very tasty! They prepared the table and put some bread and olives (as usual in Portugal it’s charged) we were really happy with the service and the live music outside. It was worth the waiting time. I definitely recommend it! Spent €55 for all with 2 pints and a coke! And creme...
