Bio Coffee & Brunch — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

It is in a great location so ended up going twice. 1st time for an evening drink - it took a while to order because the staff do not show up quickly - and a few of the drinks we wanted were not available. We had mojitos and houmous (the mojito wasn't particularly nice - and I am not that difficult- the houmous was good however). Service is incredibly slow (this was the case both times) and the staff aren't particularly warm or welcoming. Decided to have a late lunch a few days later - again for the location more than anything else. It was a disaster. I ordered a chicken toasted sandwich, and the person I was with ordered a chicken salad without Parmesan (specified twice), after a long wait (about 30 minutes) the order arrived - however the salad had Parmesan on! The waitress said she would do another salad straight away. In the end I started my toasted sandwich (after a quarter of an hour), it wasn't great and unfortunately I found a small bone in it - it was so off-putting, I left the rest of it (more than half). After another 30 minute wait the person I was with suggested we leave, lunch time had truly come and gone, she didn't want to eat alone (obvs). I went to ask for the bill, the waitress asked me if I wanted the salad to takeaway! I said no. We weren't charged for the salad however we paid for everything else (no discount despite a ridiculous wait and a substandard meal). The place is overpriced, the staff are slow, unfriendly and the opposite...

I have not received bad service like this in a long time. Waited 20 mins before I had to call a waiter to ask for the menu. Then another 20 mins before I had to call again to ask to place my order - one waiter saw my hand raised and ignored me, a while later I asked again and one waiter asked another to come to me, but he didn’t, resulting in me having to ask a third time. Furthermore, the atmosphere was so bad that I left early - the manager and staff were shouting AND SWEARING at each other. Complaining at things not being done or how they were being done. When a client got up to speak to them to ask them to keep it down and have respect for the clients here who are here to enjoy themselves, she spoke back rudely to him and asked if anyone asked him for his opinion. I’m shocked!!

Such a shame that the experience was so horrible as the location (at the Marina) is so lovely.

Very disappointing when one comes from far to try out a new place and this is the result. Now I’m not surprised the review...

We got here first thing on Sunday for breakfast knowing that we are a large group of 9. We were one of the first to arrive and were seated together. We gave orders but it was almost 30min before any food started being served. Coffees were quick but the food took a really long time. There was only 1 person serving and looked like just 1 other in the kitchen, so the waiter was obviously struggling. Wouldn't have hurt if she was a bit upbeat, but she really did lack any sort of friendly vibe. She wasn't rude, but not friendly. She stood at the end of the table without making an effort to move along to take the orders..HOWEVER she got my order a bit wrong and without hesitation amended it at once. The food is really is great and we all had empty plates. Most of the group are veg so the best thing about this place is that it has plenty options. Really good location by the marina..I can imagine it being really busy in summer. It did get busy even on the day. There's plenty parking which is a plus. Go...
