"Nicăpetre" Cultural Center — Attraction in Brăila

Monday and Tuesday is CLOSED. Open from 10 to 18. Every last Sunday of the month, FREE entrance here 😉. Ticket payed only by cash 6 Ron (1,2€). A beautiful house to visit, freshly renovated. And interesting sculpture collection. Most of the wooden works look like a column and a big watermelon and are said to be about fertility, but soon you realise they are variation on a woman's back, spine and behind ;) Then you begin to feel the author's sexual preferences! Această casă a fost concepută de arhitectul Lazăr I. Predinger. A aparținut marelui armator grec Menelaos Embiricos. Acest imobil ulterior a avut mai multe destinații iar în prezent este sediul Centrului Cultural Nicăpetre. Nicăpetre, pe numele lui civil Petre Bălănică, a fost un sculptor român născut la Brăilița în 27 ianuarie 1936. A creat și a expus lucrări atât în țară cât și în străinătate. S-a stins din viață la 21 aprilie 2008 în Canada. În perioada 2008 – 2010 imobilul a suferit ample lucrări de reabilitare dar nu a fost modificată și nu a pierdut niciuna din componentele ei valoroase.
