Porto Franco Residence — Hotel in Brăila

Air conditioning barely works. It doesn't give any cold air because it hasn't been cleaned since it was purchased. You do have to ask for the remote or you will not get one in the room. You have to find an extension in order to plug in the air conditioning unit as its cable doesn't reach any socket. Old style television set in one part of the room, that is so small you have to pull up a chair closer to see anything or use a set of binoculars. You have to make your own bed. Feels like I'm a kid again. You have to put the covers inside it's case by yourself because why not. And my girlfriend just killed a spider. Nice. She killed the only thing keeping the mosquitoes out as there are no nets at the windows to keep mosquitoes and flies out. I've asked for an iron and ironing board. They only gave me the iron and told me to bring it back first thing in the morning because the staff are using it to iron the table cloths and stuff. No ironing board because there are none. I left the water in the shower running for ten minutes on hot wondering why I have no hot water. I had to set it to cold for hot water to be coming out. I should have figured. I had to go to the reception and ask for some shower gel or something as they only left me with three small packets of shampoo and a couple of those small hand soaps. The...

This extremely nice hotel is within an easy 5 minute walking distance of the shopping area of Braila. It is on a main road but there is very little traffic noise. I chose a mid to higher floor and was perfect. My bedroom, with king and single, was large, nicely furnished with discreet cupboards for everything, good sized bathroom with bath and shower, spotless clean. There is a good sized bar area to meet up with friends as well as a large dining room. I had an evening meal there and the food and service was faultless. Breakfast could be included in rate but I have chosen to pay for accommodation without breakfast and have evening meal instead. I found all staff, from catering, bar, reception, to be really pleasant and a good asset to the hotel. Sounds like good training from the hotel as well as initial good choices with staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend this hotel. For start we have made reservation for 4 rooms, then we called to change the date and add an extra room. They said it was ok, but when we got here we had to spleep two persons in one apartment because they didn t have 5 rooms available. ||The service is not great, the food is so-so, you are waiting for the things that you order, or they forget about your order and you have to remind them again. We had lamps in the rooms but only a few socket available, and none available near the ||nightstand. ||The breakfast is poor, only a few combination (5)you can choose from.
