Strange place Timișoara, such a mixture of architecture, classical, communist, modern and all sorts. I think it's got to do with it's complex but interesting history, it's been in, USSR, ottoman empire, Turkish, Hungarian, Austrian, German, Serbian, Croatian, Roman, Dacian and God knows who else but each have left a mark here. There is eighteen different religions recognised here as well. Interesting crossroads with a colourful history, not much to do here, there is a nice new water attraction which is reasonably priced, there's a lot of coffee shops, a few churches and that's about it. Overall we found eating out reasonably good, fairly good value and kind of minimalist, no ketchup at one venue, the people are plesent and willing to chat to you, and mostly friendly and we found the city to be safe and family friendly as well. It's not on the tourist trail but has everything you could want and not spoilt with dozens of souviner sellers or restaurants with photos of the food on the menu. It does have one of the nicest shopping malls I've ever seen, Iulius Town, well worth a visit, and the food hall is beautiful. I also must praise the local municipal government for the cleanliness of the squares and parks and streets its a credit to all, something they should be very proud of, a litter bin literally every 20 meters. Well done. Overall if you happen to find yourself here I'm sure you will have a positive experience and enjoy your stay.

Set in the centre of Timisoara this is a beautiful place to see. The architecture of the buildings are beautiful and shows the older style of a Romanian city. They are so ornate and picturesque. It's quite a large place and around the edges of the square there are cafes and restaurants a plenty. A place where you can sit and relax to eat or drink. And easy to access if your disabled. There are access footways to other parts of a beautiful centre. I've sat here on a beautiful day to eat or drink and felt totally relaxed. There are no car's in these areas which is wonderful. It's a must see place as are the other squares. Go you won't be disappointed.

Union Square, also known as Dome Square, is the oldest square in Timișoara. It was named in honor of the Romanian troops that entered Timișoara on 3 August 1919 and established the Romanian administration, thus finalizing the union of Banat with Romania. Initially, it was called Losonczy Square, after Count István Losonczy who was killed by the Turks in 1552, when the fortress was conquered. Union Square is the most important reserve of Baroque architecture in the city. It houses some of the most valuable monuments of Timișoara: the two cathedrals, one Roman Catholic and one Serbian Orthodox, the Baroque Palace, the Plague Column, etc.

Union Square or Piața Unirii is a vibrant and historically rich part of the city that offers a unique blend of culture, architecture, and community. Located in the heart of Timișoara, this square is a must-visit destination. One of the highlights of Union Square is its variety of cafés, restaurants, and bars. Whether you’re in the mood for a strong espresso, a refreshing cocktail, or a traditional Romanian meal, you’ll find plenty of options to choose from. Many of the cafés offer outdoor seating, allowing you to enjoy your drink or meal while soaking in the lively ambiance and people-watching.
