Ojstrica — Attraction in Bled

READ: I am not sure who these magical endurance athletes are that are writing all of these reviews but they’re grossly underestimating the effort required and time it takes. Let me start by agreeing, it’s worth it. It is not suitable for the elderly or small children unless you’re just a grossly irresponsible parent. Or maybe if you’re carrying your very young child in a back pack. The parking area is about a 15 minute walk away further down the road in an westerly direction. If you’re trying to go for sunrise, take a really good flashlight because it will be pitch black. At the trail head, ignore the trail and take the road slightly to the right instead. When the road forks, hang a left. When it turns into a trail and then forks, take another left. The sign that is upside down pointing that way is correct even though it is upside down. The total hike is about 40 minutes at a slightly fast pace. This is to the bench spot. Halfway up the hill there is a sign that says it’s 20 more minutes, so who the heck are these people saying it’s 20 minutes total from the bottom. Yes, would be nearly impossible in sandals. So if the sunrise is at 7:30 and you’re there for photography, plan to park around 6am to get there by 7am at a reasonable pace.

This is the experience of my wife and I. We are early 30s and reasonably fit.

Again, WTF these people that undersell the effort. That helps NO ONE.

Finally, we broke the rules (seemingly) and parked on the side of the road near the trailhead. We were parked for about an hour and a half and didn’t get ticketed or towed. This was a Wednesday in October. We had the top to ourselves at sunrise. YMMV

Park your car at the nearby campground and then do the relatively easy 15 minute hike up.

While it's not the biggest space up there, there were plenty of scenic views to go around.

Just be mindful of your fellow nature lover and don't be obnoxious with your loud talking. We get it, life is hard but keep it calm and peaceful when you're around others during this tranquil time of reflection.

Also, not a flex but I noticed I was the only idiot not fully dressed in proper gear. To those who may not have packed hiking boots or closed toe shoes, I made it up in my birks with no issues at all. Just be careful not to roll your ankles given the loose rocks and incline you're facing as you hike up. Bring a headlamp or use your phone's flashlight as it was quite dark at that time of the morning.
