..........this an absolute must do or visit when in Cape Town! Please don't be in a rush when you get here! Go up half-way and stop and park if you can find a parking spot! This place is extreme-lii busy and full all the time all year round but stop to take in the awesome views on the right awesome Table Mountain, below the Cape flats, the docks and the V & A waterfront! On the left is a road leading to a cute functional mosque or prayer-room its very old and i'm sure it's part of a heritage site a must see! Also its on this slopes when you come in from the Bo-kaap where you can witness and experience the loading of the canons used to fire off the "Noon-Guns" at 12H00 sharp! Also a must visit activity! Then you can proceed to the top where the City of Cape Town has made it very prettii by keeping it clean and paving the path-ways around the top where you can walk about safe-lii look down onto Sea-point and the Atlantic ocean even "Robben Island is visible, the Cape Town Stadium! Its so awesome to see all the good views! Beside the good views from time to time different fraternities get to getting here the last time we saw all the vintage car from yester-years here! They have very clean amenities here which is a plus for this site! There is also a "Yellow Frame" here where you can frame yourself with Table Mountain in and take a picture just like the one at the V & A waterfront! Just be warned that this place is full on weekends as most people come here to walk up Lion's Head so get here before 06:00 or else also in December if you are not here before sunrise the City of Cape Town closes the roads and only people who have tickets on the Open-top bus can get here and this is the truth! Many people pack picnic baskets and come up here to catch the best of sunsets over the Atlantic ocean......Awesome! Awesome!...
Read moreIf you're looking for an amazing hiking experience with breathtaking views, Signal Hill should definitely be on your list. I recently had the pleasure of hiking Signal Hill, and it exceeded my expectations.
The trail is well-maintained and clearly marked, making it easy to navigate even for novice hikers. It's a moderate level hike that takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete, depending on your pace. The hike features steep inclines and declines, which add a nice challenge and make the experience even more enjoyable.
As you hike up the trail, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the city skyline and harbor. Once you reach the top, you'll be able to see panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and ocean, making for an unforgettable experience.
What I appreciated most about Signal Hill is that it's a great hike for all ages and fitness levels. It's accessible to both locals and tourists, and the trail is well-equipped with benches and shaded areas for those who need to rest along the way.
Overall, I highly recommend Signal Hill hike to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable outdoor experience. The views are absolutely stunning, and the trail is well...
Read moreWe endure the challenging drive up winding Signal Hill Road to the summit — 669 meters (2200 ft) above the waterfront — to walk around from Lion’s Head to Lion’s Rump on Signal Hill, the well-known overlook to the city. The view and the sunset are spectacular, well worth the time.
We timed our excursion to arrive while the sun was up, and we could safely explore (and have a celebratory picnic) before it got dark. We got to see the distinctive fynbos and Renosterveld vegetations.
Much as I wanted to, we didn’t see the caracals about which we’d been warned (by both people and road signs). See also: the Urban Caracal Project and the Internet video of a caracal taken by Louis Stanford.
As our walk and picnic came to an end, the sun began setting, painting the skies with yellows, pinks, and oranges. I understand why Signal Hill is such a popular spot.
The best part of the trip was as the skies got darker and the Cape Town lights came on, looking like gems on a black velvet background, with Table Mountain the cherry atop the sundae :-)
By the time we drove down from Signal Hill I was in love with the Cape Town vibe, so similar to San Francisco’s Twin Peaks and yet...
