Dear potential guest,
Let me share with your my sincerest feedback on staying in Bluegum Hill Guesthouse. It was amazing! We stayed here 5 days in August 2019. The hotel on the hill above the city, surrounded by high trees, we could enjoy birds singing in the morning through open windows. We could enjoy ocean view with big ships offshore, please, see attached pictures from our window, room 5.
âď¸đ¤ Very detailed personal approach to guest needs. Every your need is noted, analyzed and given several solutions for your decision. This is what is called "Customer Approach". Stylish hotel in safe area with 24 hours security guards. Room with shared terrace and lawn chairs, tables, umbrellas - everything you need for relaxation. Beds supplied with electrically heated mattresses if you feel cold. Air conditioning worked perfect. Huge personal bathroom with shower and bathtub. Cosy stylishly designed rooms and common areas. Feather pillows on request. đŻStunning view from the hill down on the city and the ocean, probably, the best in town. Plants in decor add that feeling of fresh nature and ocean breeze. Nice variety of food for breakfast. Try all fruits, fruit salads, local yoghurt - they are just fabulous, never tried such ones even in Bulgaria, origin of yoghurt! Breakfast can be served on open terrace to enjoy that stunning view on the city when sun rises! Wines are everywhere in the house, no need to go and buy, just open the fridge, take a bottle and leave your notice in the journal (charged additionally at a very-very considerable price). Special attention to be paid on Old Brown Sherry you can find in sherry decanter in dining room. Dont miss to buy it in South Africa, as it's a real specific liquor with very reach taste))) Electric adaptors are everywhere in the house)
âĽď¸âĽď¸âĽď¸Â Aissa, many-many thanks to you for organizing all trips and adventures like great white shark diving, or wine route or... all)) Thanks for all advises you gave!!! ...As we did not have time to organize all trips in advance, Aissa was so much kind to show very personal approach to every our need and did her best to help with booking tours at place. We just dropped a message 1 week before our arrival with ideas what we wanted to do. We caught a flu during our trip to the cape point, but did not have all medicines we needed. Aissa, great, great thanks to you for your help with everything, you just saved us!!! And send our thanks to your ladies for that life-saving morning chicken bullion they cooked for us 3 days back, it was yummmmmy!đ
With all our respect...
Read moreThe absolute highlight of Bluegum Hill is the phenomenal view. It's a vista that sets the tone for the day and makes just being on the property pleasant. The hosts (Aissa and Casper) are both exceptionally accommodating and happy to assist in any needs you may have. Grace and the other staff members are professional and happy to serve. The property is also in a very safe area and it's easy to get an Uber or have things delivered.||||One downside is that the tap water is not filtered, which would make life a lot easier for travelers struggling to adjust to the local water. You can purchase bottled water from the honesty bar but it's a far better value to just buy in bulk at a local store, if you don't mind the inconvenience. One other issue we had is that the TV's wifi connection stopped working at one point. Not a huge deal since TV isn't the focus of travel, but it can be nice to unwind with it at the end of the night. We didn't care enough to bring it up to the hosts so I can only assume they would have gotten it fixed if we had.||||It also seemed like the common spaces weren't really utilized that much. For travelers looking for a very quiet experience, that may be preferable, but it could have been a nice touch to offer a community drink on the house each evening as a way to have guests who choose to join get to know each other. Perhaps the pool serves that purpose in warmer months.||||Overall, it's a good place to stay and has helpful hosts but it's not in a super walkable area and can feel a bit low energy, which could be a pro or a con depending on what you're...
Read moreMy wife and I had a nice stay at the Blugum Hill GH Jan 3-5, 2017, the King room was large and comfortable, the hosts were very helpful in getting us dinner reservations and recommendations on transportation to see Cape Town. The views from the patio and pool area are great and getting around the area is easy using Uber (very affordable most fares were 20-35 Rand ($2-3). It cost us 180 rand to the airport $13, Wow. Cape Town is a great city with excellent restaurants and areas to explore. Compared to USA prices in South Africa are a bargain with prices being 30-50% less than what we pay in the USA. The quality is even better than what we have in the USA. Even prices in vending machines are much less in SA, The Blugum Hill is a great place to stay for couples. It is centrally located for easy exploration of Cape Town. We will definitely stay there again, but stay for a week next time to see more of the wonderful things Cape Town...
